There is something undeniably magnetic about a car that once wore a
badge and carried the responsibility of public service. This 1992
Chevrolet Camaro B4C began life as part of the Arizona Department
of Public Safety fleet and later took on a second life as a
promotional show car, carrying custom paint, unique interior work,
and a story that makes it stand out from the crowd. For enthusiasts
who value both rarity and provenance, this B4C is a compelling
piece of Camaro and law enforcement history.
One of just 589 B4C police-package Camaros built for 1992, this
example is believed to be one of only six ordered by Arizona DPS
with the L98 350 Tuned Port Injection engine and 4-speed automatic
transmission. All B4Cs carried the 1LE front brake package, while
Arizona's fleet cars were also fitted with DE1 rear window louvers,
making this combination especially distinctive. Records indicate it
was the last known 1992 B4C still retained by Arizona DPS before
being sold.
Around 2010, the car was converted into a DPS recruiting showpiece
with full custom paint featuring sponsor logos, graphics, and a
reworked interior with two-tone inserts and flame-stitched panels.
When the paint was applied, decals were cleared over, leaving some
clear coat blemishes where decals were later removed - part of its
unique story as an official DPS display vehicle.
Purchased out of the DPS maintenance yard in July 2024 after
sitting for several years, the Camaro was recently recommissioned
with a thorough fuel system refresh: new tank, Racetronix pump,
sending unit, filter, and flow-matched factory 22 lb injectors. The
intake was resealed with Arizona TPI assisting on upgraded runners
and throttle body. A new A/C compressor, water pump, and thermostat
were installed, and the exhaust was upgraded to a full stainless
system from manifolds to tailpipes. Factory GM SS Camaro wheels
were fitted with fresh 17-inch Nitto Motivo tires, completing the
look.
Inside, the custom promotional interior remains, showing its
history with aftermarket inserts, unique stitching, and the
original gauge cluster. The car retains its period character,
blending law enforcement roots with show-car flair.
With 135,892 actual miles, authentic documentation, and strong
provenance, this Camaro represents a rare opportunity to own a true
B4C with Arizona DPS history. Combining police-package rarity,
promotional car uniqueness, and recent mechanical updates, it is a
standout collector piece ready for its next chapter. Call today to
schedule a closer look.
