This 1965 Backdraft RT4 roadster was completed by Vintage Motorsports in North Haven, CT in 2023 and has accumulated just over 4,000 miles. It is powered by a Ford 427ci V8 engine built by D1 Auto Machine producing 585hp and 550 ft/lbs of torque. This engine features a Dart block, AFR heads, all-forged internals, roller rockers and a hydraulic roller camshaft. A Holley Sniper 2.0 Fuel Injection System provides modern driving characteristics. The engine is mated to a TREMEC TKX 5-speed manual transmission with a McLeod twin-disc clutch and a QuickTime steel bellhousing.
Originally slated as a feature vehicle for VMS, this RT4 was treated to a GT body and a unique paint scheme combining Ferrari Bianco Fuji Pearl White Paint with Black Magic Stripes, a bold Ross Dino Center Stripe, and a combination of Silver and Grigio Telestro Pinstripes. A full blackout trim was included with a Black Magic finish instead of the usual just Black.
The interior is where Backdraft RT4 #1953 really stands out. Featuring a CNC stitched interior in a honeycomb pattern that covers the seats, door panels, the transmission tunnel and up the rear wall. The carbon dash has been treated to a very limited VMS Aviator Dash Panel with custom switches, LEDs, and of course SpeedHut Instruments.
This RT4 features full coilover suspension in the front and rear. The IRS includes a Ford Super 8.8-inch differential, and steering is power-assisted, as are the 4-wheel Wilwood disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors and custom color coordinated calipers. The wheels are 18 inches and fitted with 335 rear tires.
Paint protection film has been applied to the complete nose, the doors, and the rear. All the lighting has been upgraded to LED including the headlights with DRL Halos. Both seats are heated for additional comfort. The radiator has been upgraded to aluminum for additional cooling and the aluminum fuel tank runs an internal fuel pump. Billet reservoirs under-the-hood provide ease of maintenance for all necessary fluids. The engine has been treated to a black out trim package. Headers and sidepipes with heatshields have been ceramic coated as well.
This Backdraft RT4 has been loaded with options over stock and has been completed by the premiere Backdraft Racing builder in the country. **TITLED AS 1965 ROADSTER**
