This 1979 GMC Jimmy Sierra, nicknamed "Desert Fox", is a
professionally built showpiece crafted by Big Fish Garage of Grand
Island, Nebraska. Completed to a very high standard, the truck
earned an Optima Battery Golden Ticket and was proudly displayed at
the 2017 SEMA Show before being invited to compete in the Ultimate
Street Car Invitational.
Under the hood, a 5.3L Vortec V8 delivers modern power with a BTR
Stage 3 camshaft, high-flow intake, billet ICT manifold, custom
radiator, and long-tube headers with electronic cutouts. Power is
routed through a built 4L60E automatic with a Monster torque
converter, shift kit, and an Auburn limited-slip rear end with 4.10
gears. The exhaust note, fed through an X-pipe and Flowmaster
40-series mufflers, can be instantly uncorked at the push of a
button.
The chassis features a fully upgraded suspension with Ridetech
shocks, Belltech springs, PB Fab control arms, a four-link rear
with C-notch, and a Ridetech MuscleBar sway setup, all supported by
an AGR Performance steering box. Braking is handled by power front
discs and rear drums.
Exterior
Finished in PPG Buckskin with Low Sierra Company multi-tone
striping, this Jimmy captures the era with a twist of modern
refinement. The removable fiberglass hardtop is coated in
body-color bedliner, and custom touches include Slosh Tubz inner
fenders, "Low Sierra" emblems, chrome bumpers, and polished trim.
20" US Mags Sierra wheels (silver centers, polished lips) are
wrapped in Toyo Proxes ST tires-275/40 front, 315/35 rear.
Interior
Inside, the cabin showcases Highlander-style orange plaid
upholstery on front buckets and the rear bench, accented by tan
vinyl and woodgrain trim. A Squarebody Syndicate custom gauge
cluster hosts a 160-mph speedo, tach, and full instrumentation.
Modern conveniences include an overhauled air-conditioning system,
retro-look stereo with Kicker speakers, a tilt column, and
map-pocket door panels.
Provenance
The build shows approximately 3,000 miles since completion, with
true chassis mileage unknown. It comes with supporting invoices,
SEMA documentation, and a clean Montana title.
