The Backdraft Roadster has been extensively developed and refined
over many years as a race proven, high performance sports car. With
60's styling and the use of a modern independent suspension, it
provides the ultimate in styling and drivability. It offers
lightning quick performance, sure-footed handling, ride comfort and
excellent braking ability in a well-rounded package that is
unrivaled for quality. This 1965 Shelby Cobra Backdraft 427 has
been carefully driven a mere 66 miles for break in since new and is
exceptional in every way.
The fiberglass body is mounted to a reinforced steel box frame and
is finished in Indigo Blue with Wimbledon White center stripes.
Exterior details include a hood scoop, fender vents, and wind wings
in addition to a single roll hoop, a Raydot-style mirror, a
LeMans-style fuel filler, quick-jack bumperettes, and side-exit
exhaust pipes with perforated heat shields. Real 18-inch knock-off
wheels wrapped with Nitto performance tires look excellent and
compliment the overall stance of the car nicely. Chrome heat
shielding over side pipes shines nicely and is a nice addition to
try and protect against leg burns. This Cobra has also been
optioned with wiper blades. The 427 badging just above side fender
vents lets others know this machine is able go as well as show.
Backdraft Cobras also allow for much greater interior leg room when
compared to other Cobras. Sit back into the comfortable low-back
bucket seats that are trimmed in rich leather upholstery and grab
ahold of the Backdraft branded steering wheel and you will be ready
for some action-packed driving. A battery cut-off switch is mounted
ahead of the shifter, and additional interior elements include a
keyed push-button ignition, tinted sun visors, a dashboard-mounted
rearview mirror, Sabelt cam-lock racing harnesses and Backdraft
Racing branded floor mats. Other options include a glove box and
Autometer gauges.
The front-hinged hood opens to reveal a 500 HP Iconic Prestige
Motorsports 427ci V8 equipped with a Holley carburetor with an
electric choke in addition to an Edelbrock Performer intake
manifold, MSD ignition components, aluminum pulleys, ceramic-coated
tubular exhaust headers, Cobra air cleaner cover, and PM
427-branded valve covers. Power is delivered to the rear wheels
through a Tremec TKO five-speed manual transmission with a
QuickTime bellhousing and an 8.8? rear axle. The car is equipped
with rack-and-pinion power steering with a KRC reservoir as well as
adjustable coilovers and BMW-style four-wheel independent
suspension. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc
brakes.
