While there is something to be said about owning an original Pony
Car, there is an argument that can be made that there is no reason
someone can't enjoy the look and feel of a classic muscle car, but
also benefit from the upgrades to technology in the last sixty or
so years. This 1967 Chevrolet Camaro LS Restomod is the epitome of
that argument, and it is a strong one. Fully repainted in this
brilliant Black Pearl, this first-gen Camaro knows how to make an
entrance with its single silver center stripe trim outlined in red,
cowl-induction hood, front bumper delete, and a notched rear
valance to fit the upgraded dual exhaust. And it's hard to miss
those polished 18-inch Forgeline wheels, which make it clear that
this car has undergone more than a few upgrades since its
production date.
Inside, we find a Red Glove interior done by Joe's Superior
Interiors that is possibly even more stunning than Camaro's
head-turning exterior. Plush and supportive Recaro bucket seats
adorned with high-quality red leather make this cockpit feel racy
even before you turn the key. A beautiful Budnic polished
four-spoke steering wheel looks right at home, as do the custom
HVAC controls mounted in the center of the dash. A compact six-pod
AutoMeter gauge cluster provides all the pertinent information to
the driver clearly and easily, while the touchscreen AM/FM/AUX head
unit also offers Bluetooth connectivity.
Under the hood, we find a futuristic-looking engine bay that houses
a modern 6.0-liter LS2 V-8 engine, which the owner claims has been
stroked to 402 cubic inches. This aluminum block and heads small
block made 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque from the
factory, but add to that a set of Belanger long tube headers, and a
Flowmaster dual exhaust to that, and this motor should have no
problem easily eclipsing those numbers. Power is routed through a
tried-and-true Tremec T56 six-speed transmission, upgraded with a
powerful LS7 clutch package, before heading out to the claimed
3.73-geared Moser 12-bolt rear, where it is sent to those gorgeous
wheels shod in staggered Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring
265/40ZR-17 in the rear and narrower 215/40ZR-17 up front.
