Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this stunning 1978 Trans Am which is in beautiful overall condition with low actual miles of 27,143. This TA was owned by the original owner from new until 2012 with only 3 owners in total. Original owner kept meticulous condition of this TA as its mostly original and unrestored and still presents in super nice condition. Current Ohio title shows the miles as actual and the car shows as a low mile well cared for TA and there are plenty of docs and receipts showing accurate low mileage. This Trans Am features Factory Mayan Red paint with TA decals, a beautiful original rarely seen White/Black Tuxedo deluxe interior, and the original numbers matching 400 engine, see vin stamp photo. This Trans Am is absolutely solid and has no visible rust anywhere around the car or under the car, and is very solid with great lines and gaps. The underside is in very solid condition and still shows a lot of original red oxide primer. Its believed that this TA has never had any body work done and is all original sheet metal. This Trans Am is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Mayan Red over White/Black deluxe interior. Exterior
The Red exterior is in fantastic stock condition. This Trans Am has beautiful Mayan Red paint and shows well with nice decals and trim. The paint is in great overall condition and there are no signs of visible rust or bubbling paint around the car. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but noting was intentionally excluded from the photos. Tires have near full tread on them and are 5 years old and the 15 x 8 inch snowflake wheels are in great shape with nice center caps and lug nuts. All weather stripping is in good shape including the window sweeps and the door and t top seals. The trunk is very solid and clean with an original style trunk mat and jack and spare tire and t top bag. The original speakers are still in the car and the rear speaker still has its insulation box which looks like new. The underside of this TA is in amazing shape and plenty of original red oxide primer is still in place and shows very well now. The underside is very solid with no rust patches or rust concerns.
Interior
The White/Black deluxe vinyl interior of this Trans Am is original and in excellent condition. The original seat covers are in great overall shape and have no major wear or stains. The original carpet is in great shape with no major stains, rips, or holes. The original dash is in excellent condition and the dash bezel is like new as well. The original Stereo is still in the car. The original door panels are in great condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner is in good condition and the package tray is in excellent condition. All interior lights and gauges work as they should including the cig lighter. The stereo, wipers, horn, windows, and blower motor all work. The power windows work nicely.
Mechanical
This Trans Am is in great mechanical condition with only 27,143 actual miles on the original 400 engine. The suspension was fully restored to better than WS6 specifications with new sway bars, new springs, new shocks, new bushings and new body mounts. The transmission has a new cover on it. The exhaust has been upgraded to true dual exhaust including Megnaflow mufflers which adds a nice rumble at idle and cruising speeds. Ram Air exhaust manifolds were also added which increases flow and HPA new starter was added. We have driven this TA numerous times on the streets and highways and it always performs very well, does not run hot, rides tight, and is a true joy to drive. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs very well. The enhanced suspension makes this TA handle really well and drastically improves the driving experience. This Trans Am is a great driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs great. The brakes do not pull and stop as they should. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos. This is a factory non AC car which really cleans up the engine bay and adds to performance. The engine was removed a few years ago and resealed.
