This 2008 Ford Mustang GT500 convertible is the iconic Shelby white and blue and powered by a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 producing 500 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 480 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. This car however is SCT chipped/tuned and boasts 600+ horsepower!
It comes with a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission and uses a limited-slip rear-wheel drive layout. The chassis features a front suspension with MacPherson struts and a solid rear axle with a three-link setup and coil springs. Braking is handled by Brembo front discs measuring 14 inches with four-piston calipers and rear discs measuring 11.8 inches with two-piston calipers. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec TR-6060 six-speed manual transmission designed to handle the high torque output of the supercharged 5.4-liter V8. The clutch is a dual-disc setup for better engagement and durability under high load. The car uses a hydraulic rack-and-pinion steering system tuned for stability at speed while still providing precise feedback. The suspension geometry is revised from the standard Mustang GT to improve cornering performance, and stabilizer bars are fitted both front and rear. The GT500 convertible is also reinforced with additional bracing to maintain chassis rigidity despite the open-top design. The exhaust system is custom, a true dual layout with a crossover pipe to enhance both flow and sound. Ford rated the quarter-mile time in the low 12-second range, but with the extra horsepower, we are sure it can beat that range.
