This 1983 Jeep CJ-7 is a very very nice and very very clean example
that is very stock in appearance which you do not see too much
nowadays. This Jeep spent most of its life in Indiana as a summer
toy for an elderly gentleman who always kept it stored in his
heated barn even when he went to Florida for the winter. This is a
great looking Jeep! The body is clean and straight. The Jeep Night
Blue Paint still looks great but it does have some stone chips
touched up from over the years. It is set off with the RENEGADE
decals that look really cool (Unsure if this is an original
Renegade). It has the factory hard top and doors and factory roll
bar. The underside has been completely detailed by the last owner
and looks amazing. We found no rust issues with this Jeep.
The interior appears to be all original and is still really nice.
It still has the factory upholstery on the seats with driver seat
showing a little wear as you would expect. The factory carpet up
front is still nice and the factory door panels are excellent. The
factory dash panel is uncut and still excellent as well. The
factory dash pad is also in great condition except for 1 small
crack in the middle. The last owner removed the whole interior and
cleaned and painted the floor so that also looks fantastic. The
headlights, taillights, brakelights, and turn signals are all
working. The heat, horn, and windshield wipers are also
working.
Mechanically this Jeep is excellent and it runs and drives awesome.
The engine is the 4.2L 258 Inline 6 that runs strong with no issues
or red flags that we found. The engine was totally rebuilt 1500
miles ago and we have some of the receipts for that work but you
can clearly see the engine is like new in the pictures. They
replaced the stock carb with a new Carter and we still have the
original. They also added a HEI ignition. It has the T4 Manual 4
speed transmission that shifts nice with a good clutch which was
replaced when the engine was rebuilt. It is mated to the Dana 300
transfer case and the 4WD works like it should. The rear axle is
the AMC20 with 3.54 gears. The front axle is the Dana 30 with 3.54
gears. It recently had a Redhead Steering Box installed and a 1
Inch Lift with HD Shackles. This is all sitting on a nice set of
Wagon Wheels with 31 Inch All terrain Tires. Cool Jeep...Cool
Find.
