This 1972 Fiat 124 Sport Coupe is said to have been purchased new
by the son of a Detroit, Michigan, Fiat dealer who remained its
steward for 31 years with service handled by Michigan Fiat
specialist Pietro Arena. The car was purchased in 2003 by Arena,
who subsequently repainted it before selling it in 2006 to a New
York City owner with whom it remained for the next 12 years. It was
then purchased in 2018 by its last owner, who undertook a
mechanical refresh that included overhauls of the 1.6-liter DOHC
inline-four, twin Weber IDF carburetors, and five-speed manual
transmission as well as work on the brake, suspension, and exhaust
systems. Finished in red, the car features servo-assisted
four-wheel disc brakes, independent front suspension, 15"
Cromodora-style wheels, black vinyl interior upholstery, and a
Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel. This BC type 124 Sport Coupe won
a Best in Class award for the Gathering of the Marques Fiat Club of
America class at the 2024 Limerock Historic Festival Sunday in the
Park car show and it comes with repair and owner's manuals,
invoices, and a hand-written repair log from current ownership. The
1.6-liter DOHC inline-four was overhauled by Fun Imported Auto &
Toys in Vernon, Connecticut, in 2019. Work involved boring and
honing of the cylinders, cylinder head reconditioning and port
work, reconditioning of the connecting rods, polishing of the
crankshaft, and installation of .6mm-overbore pistons, upsized
valves, and a replacement oil pump, bearings, and exhaust valves
guides. The Weber IDF carburetors were also rebuilt at that time
and breath through a European-specification "turtleback" air
cleaner. Additional work included repainting of the engine bay,
replacement of the hood lining with a reproduction zig-zag-pattern
pad, the installation of re-ground camshafts, and replacement of
the timing belt. The five-speed manual synchromesh transmission was
also overhauled by Fun Import Auto & Toys. The flywheel was
resurfaced, and the clutch assembly, pilot bearing, U-joints,
center driveshaft carrier and bearing, rear differential seal, and
pinion and carrier bearings were replaced. The suspension system
was refreshed with replacement bushings, and a replacement Abarth
exhaust system was installed. This is a great car and a fine
example of the FIAT nameplate. We sell and ship worldwide Dome
