Among the final examples of Porsche's desirable "long-hood" design,
this 1973 911T Coupe combines the purity of its original
numbers-matching 2.4-liter MFI flat-six with extensive,
professionally executed upgrades that transform it into a capable
Gentleman's rally/touring car. Restored and thoughtfully enhanced
by respected Porsche specialists, this 911T presents as a superbly
balanced blend of originality, performance, and refinement.
According to the Certificate of Authenticity, this 911 was
originally equipped with US equipment, forged alloy wheels, manual
antenna, loudspeaker, comfort equipment, front spoiler, tinted
glass all around, and Pirelli tires.
In December 2015, the 911 was acquired by Jim Liberty of Liberty
Motorsports in Costa Mesa, California, a marque expert known for
his work with 356s and early 911s. Over the following two years,
the 911 underwent a custom restoration and performance build.
Delivered initially in Sepia Brown, it was finished in Slate Grey.
Externally, the 911 received a steel S front bumper, aluminum
bumper trim, chrome bumperettes, European H4 headlights, and
Italian side markers.
The current fastidious owner acquired this 911 in 2020 and further
elevated it into a refined Gentleman's Touring Hotrod. Between 2021
and 2022, the numbers-matching engine was comprehensively rebuilt
by Goritz SixFix in Costa Mesa, California, to a high-compression
2.4-liter to 911 S+ specification. The work included the fitment of
90 mm Mahle pistons within Biral cylinders, rebuilt cylinder heads,
the long-block was completely rebuilt, Carrera chain tensioner
upgrade was installed, oil-bypass modification, and oil-pressure
piston update. The mechanical fuel injection (MFI) system was
rebuilt and calibrated to 911 S specification, and the throttle
bodies and throttle stacks were restored. The distributor was
recurved to 911 S profile, while the cylinder heads were ported to
911 S specification. A new clutch assembly was installed, along
with a Dansk Sport Exhaust system. Output is estimated at a robust
195-205 horsepower. The braking system also received attention,
including rebuilt brake calipers at PMB Performance, with new brake
pads. An Elephant Racing front oil cooler, through-the-grille front
driving lights, and Euro rear fog lamp. The 911 recently had a
brand-new set of Pirelli CN36 tires mounted to factory-finished 15
x 7-inch Fuchs alloy wheels, aligned and corner-balanced by Joey
Seely of E-Motion Engineering in Costa Mesa, California. The stance
was lowered and complemented with Koni Classic shock absorbers, new
bushings, and a carbon-fiber/aluminum strut brace.
Scott's Independent in Anaheim, California, recently serviced and
resealed the transmission with new gaskets. The MFI system and the
original case was shipped to Hamburg, Germany, for specialist work,
underscoring the quality of the restoration. Since completion,
approximately 3,300 miles have been covered, ensuring proper
sorting and drivability.
The paintwork is in pristine condition and presents incredibly
well, with excellent gaps and panel fit. The interior was
upholstered with Italian Burgundy leather upholstery, with Black
dash and door pockets, houndstooth inserts, a black headliner, and
sun visors. An original Becker Europa AM/FM radio with Bluetooth
was rebuilt in Europe. Other interior upgrades include a rare 370mm
Momo Le Mans steering wheel imported from Holland (the original
wheel included), new seals throughout, LED interior lighting, a new
front windshield, and CoCo mats.
Complete with the original tool kit, jack, owner's manual, sales
brochure, complete, detailed, and itemized restoration receipts,
Certificate of Authenticity, and two steering wheels, this 911T
represents a rare opportunity to acquire a long-hood Porsche that
has been elevated beyond factory specification. Finished in a
stunning color combination of Slate Grey finish, bespoke interior,
uprated suspension, and high compression engine delivering over 195
horsepower, it stands as a beautifully executed example of the
"gentleman's rally car" ethos.
