Distributed by Porsche of America Corporation and completed on
March 3, 1969. This is a black plate California 912, 1969 was the
last year of production of the 912, and the only year of the long
wheelbase. It is a Karmann-built body, finished in Light Ivory with
a black interior. The paintwork is consistent with patina and
showcases excellent gaps and panel fitment. The Fuch alloy 14"
wheels are mounted with Vredestein 195 65 14 tires.
The interior features black upholstery, and the front seats have
houndstooth inserts, with the original basketweave dashboard and
door panels, door pockets, German carpets, and black CoCo mats. The
leather-wrapped VDM steering wheel with a butterfly horn button
frames the VDO instrumentation with a 7000RPM tachometer, a 120-mph
speedometer, a clock, and auxiliary gauges.
The 912 runs beautifully with plenty of power and is a joy to
drive; it shifts up and down throughout all the gears smoothly with
no issues. Jack Staggs, a local Porsche 356/912 guru, has been
servicing this 912 over the last five years. On January 19, 2021,
Jack Staggs performed a full engine tune-up, adjusted the valves,
and the shifter. On September 24, 2021, K & H Auto Upholstery
replaced the sunroof headliner, the dashboard basketweave trim, and
installed a new front windshield seal.
Mechanically, it is powered by the matching 1.6-liter flat-four
engine (Type 616/40) featuring dual Weber carburetors (rated at 102
horsepower) with a matching manual 4-speed transmission and
four-wheel disc braking system. Complete with a Porsche Kardex,
original owner's manual, service records, and a California title. A
fantastic example with a rare electric sunroof that is ready to
enjoy!
