Here is a first-gen 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible that is
absolutely gorgeous. The Candy Apple Red paint shines impressively
against the black power convertible top, and it looks even more
striking with the top down. All the brightwork, chrome bumpers, and
chrome wheels with whitewall tires add to this Mustang's elegance.
The stance looks period-correct, the rear valance has GT exhaust
cutouts, and a stock chrome luggage rack finishes off this
beautiful Mustang's iconic look.
The interior is mostly black and original, with just enough bright
trim to break up the color nicely. The seats are in great shape,
and the center console looks good while housing the T-shifter. The
steering wheel retains its original look, as does the easy-to-read
gauge cluster. All the buttons and knobs appear functional, and a
Retro AM/FM/Aux radio sends audio entertainment through the
aftermarket speaker system. The door panels, door jambs, door
sills, and weatherstripping are clean and in good condition, while
the carpet looks well cared for and protected by Ford Mustang
rubber mats.
The engine bay is clean and well organized, featuring an aluminum
radiator, strut bracing, and a Monte Carlo bar. Power comes from a
289 cubic-inch V8 painted Ford Blue with black-and-silver coated
Mustang valve covers and a chrome 289 air cleaner cover. That setup
is paired with a C4 3-speed automatic transmission, which sends
power to a Ford 8-inch rear end.
Up front, an independent suspension with coil springs, shocks, and
a sway bar takes care of handling, steering, and comfort, while
leaf springs with DYR gas shocks handle rear suspension business.
Fourteen-inch Mustang wheels are mounted at all four corners,
wrapped in thin whitewall Nexen 215/70R14 tires, with a spare
195/75R14 included. For stopping power, the Mustang is equipped
with front and rear power drum brakes, while a dual exhaust system
with aftermarket mufflers gives this classic the perfect sound.
