1955 Lincoln Capri Sedan - Sunstone Yellow - Original Survivor
Project
We are pleased to present this 1955 Lincoln Capri Sedan, offered on
behalf of the current owner. The Capri was Lincoln's
top-of-the-line model in the mid-1950s, built to showcase the
brand's commitment to luxury, style, and engineering. This example
is finished in its factory shade of Sunstone Yellow and remains
largely complete and original, making it an appealing candidate for
either a full restoration or light recommissioning as a driver
project.
Exterior
The car presents in its original Sunstone Yellow color, a striking
period shade that embodies the optimism of the mid-1950s. The body
is largely complete and carries its original trim, chrome, and
brightwork. As is often the case with unrestored cars of this
vintage, there are areas of rust present as well as evidence of
prior repairs. Overall, the car shows as a true project, but with
enough completeness to serve as a solid foundation for
restoration.
Interior
Inside, the Capri reflects Lincoln's reputation for well-appointed
luxury. This car is equipped with both power seats and power
windows, a sign of its high-option status when new. The interior is
largely intact but, like the exterior, will require attention to
bring back to show or driver quality. All major components are
present, providing a good basis for either refurbishment or
complete restoration.
Under the Hood and Body
Under the hood rests Lincoln's period V8 engine, which does start,
though not on its own fuel system. The drivetrain is largely
intact, and the transmission does engage into gear, though further
mechanical sorting will be required. The underbody shows expected
age with some rust, reinforcing that this car is best approached as
a project. Despite this, the car's originality and completeness
make it a worthwhile endeavor for the right buyer.
Driving
While the engine does run with assistance, the car is not currently
roadworthy. It does go into and out of gear, but it will require a
full systems check, brake servicing, and fuel system sorting before
being safely driven on the road. This Capri is best viewed as a
project in need of recommissioning or restoration, rather than a
turn-key driver.
Conclusion
This 1955 Lincoln Capri Sedan offers an excellent opportunity for
the classic Lincoln enthusiast. With its desirable Sunstone Yellow
finish, original V8 engine, and high-option features such as power
seats and power windows, this car retains much of its period charm.
While it does require mechanical and cosmetic attention, it is
largely complete and represents a solid base for restoration or
preservation.
We are selling this car on behalf of the current owner and are open
to offers. Don't miss the chance to acquire a true mid-century
Lincoln luxury sedan with plenty of potential.
