As one of 1,430 911S Coupes built for 1973, this highly optioned
example represents the pinnacle of Porsche's long-hood era.
Finished in its striking original combination of Silver Metallic
over a Black leatherette interior. Loaded with factory options
including an electric sunroof, Recaro sport seats, Koni shocks,
limited-slip differential, and Air Conditioning. This was the most
refined, high-performance specification available to the U.S.
buyers in the final year of the long hood 911 before the
impact-bumper G-series cars.
Delivered new in May 1973 via Porsche | Audi Eastern VW Corp. and
retailed through President Porsche | Audi in Vestal, New York, this
911S was exceptionally well optioned at purchase. Notably, the
electric sliding sunroof, a $500 extra-option at the time, was
ordered by fewer than 5% of the buyers; the factory air condition
also had to be special-ordered along with the factory Recaro sport
seats. Complementary details included chrome fender strips,
Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, electric heated rear window, and 6 x 15-inch
Fuchs alloy wheels.
The Silver Metallic paintwork is stunning, the result of a
bare-metal respray with all new trim and triple-plated chrome
brightwork. The interior is amazing with factory sport seats
trimmed in black vinyl with houndstooth inserts, factory
leather-wrapped steering wheel with butterfly horn ring, VDO
instrumentation, Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, and cold Air
Conditioning.
Mechanical care has been extensive and well-documented. The engine
was completely rebuilt, including new pistons and cylinders,
Carrera chain tensioner upgrade, and replacement of all necessary
components. Sewickley Porsche in Pennsylvania performed a
comprehensive $20,000 service that included new Pirelli Cinturato
CN36 tires, ignition system repairs, tuning and adjustments, a new
muffler, a refinished sump plate, and refreshed oil lines.
Mechanically powered by its matching 2.4-liter mechanical
fuel-injected (MFI) flat-six engine, paired with the matching
5-speed manual transmission and four-wheel disc brakes. Complete
with a tool kit, jack, owner's manual, original service booklet,
Blaupunkt radio manual, antenna key, Porsche Production
Specifications sheet, California registration cards from the 1970s,
and 25 years of service records. This 1973 Porsche 911S Sunroof is
a well-optioned, matching-numbers, beautifully presented in its
original factory colors and is one of the most desirable models of
the marque's golden era.
