The fourth series of cars to wear the 'SL' nameplate, the R107-generation SLs were released in 1971, and, in much the same vein as its W113 predecessor, was designed primarily as a 'personal luxury car'. The result was such an overwhelming success, Mercedes-Benz sold 300,175 examples over its production run ending in early 1989 (the company's second-longest series production of a single type after the original G-Class). Over 68% of that total were sold in the United States, with strong numbers throughout its run.

Unlike its predecessors, the R107 SL was offered with a plethora of engine options throughout its lifetime. European models were available with traditional Inline-6s and typically smaller-displacement V8s in comparison to American models (a differentiation intended to offset losses from the emissions equipment required on US models). Regardless of engine, R107s offer a far more 'polished' driving experience over the older W113, with larger, more luxurious interiors and increased torque from the V8s. Today, low-mile, well-cared examples command pricing worthy of these car's stature of one of Mercedes-Benz's most impressive models from the seventies and eighties.

The incredible 1983 Mercedes-Benz 380 SL Roadster featured here is finished in eye-catching Astral Silver Metallic with a Grey Nappa leather interior with a Black folding convertible top and a body-color removable hardtop. This investment-grade Mercedes-Benz is a highly desirable European-market example brought into the US and federalized in-period. Featuring rare options such as heated seats and driver-adjustable lumbar support along with automatic climate control and alloy wheels, this low-mileage 380 SL is the perfect choice to drive and enjoy. Because of this 380 SL’s remarkable condition and incredibly low miles thanks to its prior owners’ meticulous attention, I personally believe the investment potential of this 380 SL will grow beyond your imagination. Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires only the very best at an investment price!
