Carolina Muscle Cars, Inc. is pleased to have this exceptional 1963 Plymouth Savoy Max Wedge 426 Super Stock in our showroom! The 2-door sedan is one of 177 base-model Savoys fitted with the orange monster S426tage II Wedge. According to decoding of its production record supplied by DaimlerChrysler and information published by Max Wedge expert Darrell Davis, the bare-bones Savoy was built at Chrysler's Lynch Road factory in Detroit, where all Plymouth Super Stock cars were produced. The infamous option code 9 was originally specified, confirming the Savoy's elite status as an original 426 Super Stock car with the mighty 426ci Maximum Performance Stage II Wedge V8 engine, conservatively rated at 425hp.

This special factory built race car was in the collection of famous NHRA race car driver, Don Fezell. Don owned this car for 26 years and had this no expense spared restoration completed in 2018. The restoration cost was a whopping $122,524 The restoration is outstanding and may be the very best. When the car was new, The original tires and exhaust was taken off the car. During the restoration process, the original tires and cut out header exhaust was restored and fitted back on the car.

The 426 Super Stock Max Wedge engine is the 13.5:1 compression ration variant that had a conservative 425HP rating. The actual numbers are far higher. The engine and all components were built to factory specs and this car is very correct. The Super Stock engine is paired to the rare T-85 HD 3 Speed manual transmission. These cars were among the fastest on the track in the early 1960's. Today the car still is a blast to drive.

This car is said to be documented in the Darrell Davis book of Super Stock Max Wedges. The car is also documented with the original fender tag, owners manual, Dealer color brochure, and Super Max Wedge spec sheets.
