This 1938 Chrysler Royal Restomod is a handsome antique that's just
as enjoyable to drive as it is to look at. The silver and blue
paint blend beautifully, giving the hot rod a deep, glossy
appearance. The chromed Cragar wheels-rarely seen on cars of this
era look like they were made for this build. The chrome bumpers,
front grille, hood accents, and hood ornament add an extra touch of
grace. And if you need more proof that this is a custom restomod,
the shaved door handles, suicide doors, and keyless trunk entry
should convince you.
The interior continues that custom vibe with a blue-and-beige color
theme. The vinyl front and rear seats are in good shape, as are the
door panels, carpet, and headliner. A custom center console is
well-built and houses power switches for nearly all accessories.
The dashboard is solid, painted in the same blue as the
exterior.
For gauges, there is an aftermarket Classic Instruments speedometer
and a matching gauge cluster for temp, volts, oil, and fuel. Below
those sit additional switches and a 12-volt power outlet. A billet
steering wheel with a brown veneer rim is mounted to a chrome tilt
steering column. For entertainment, there's an aftermarket Kenwood
AM/FM radio with a CD player and custom speaker setups.
The engine bay is clean and well-dressed, featuring chrome valve
covers, a chrome alternator, and a chrome Holley air cleaner cover.
Power comes from a 350-cubic-inch V8 with a Holley Commander 950
Electronic Fuel Injection System. The engine setup is mated to a
700R4 4-speed automatic transmission that sends power to a Ford
8-inch rear axle.
The front suspension has been upgraded with a Mustang II front clip
and tubular A-arms, along with coil springs, shocks, and a sway
bar. Out back, the car rides on leaf springs with shocks and a sway
bar. 15-inch Cragars wrapped in front P215/75R15 tires and rear
P225/75R15 tires give this Chrysler a great stance. Behind the
wheels sit four-wheel power disc brakes for confident stopping.
Exhaust duties are handled by shorty headers feeding dual exhaust
with aftermarket mufflers.
