"There's a ton of interesting detail in the bodywork, its many
lines and creases somehow merging into a cohesive and rather exotic
whole. This car really reminds me more of a Ferrari than a
Corvette, and perhaps that was the goal; to put a fresh and very
modern face on a nameplate that is both iconic but also viewed by
some as "an old man's sports car". Some may consider the new design
too radical a departure from the smooth lines associated with
Corvettes of old, but there's certainly nothing "old man" about
it". Autoguide.com, November 2014
For consignment, a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Z51 2LT Stingray coupe
with a title verified 31,151 actual miles. This gray beauty has
always been garaged and attentive to its manufacturer recommended
maintenance schedule. The window sticker and service records will
come to you with the car.
Exterior
This streamlined sports car is decked out in Cyber Gray Metallic
and it's this dark gray that highlights the cast aluminum wheels,
19-inch in front, 20-inch in back, and the visible red calipers
between the spokes. The car is enhanced by the striking fender
vents that cant forward and the rear fender top is aligned with the
stingray emblem, as if expelled from the vents themselves. Up
front, covered headlights and straight grille seem to grin with
confidence and the heat extracting louvers on the hood are
otherworldly. The panoramic roof is only briefly separated from the
rear window and the shoulders are stamped with intact ducts that
would make a Countach jealous. The tail was probably the most
controversial part of the C7, but it has aged well over the years
and still looks relevant more than 10 years later. Of course, the
quad center exit exhaust pipes have been loved since they debuted
on the C5's. The exterior is in excellent condition and we could
not find any glaring imperfections.
Interior
Black door panels are augmented with gray stitching and gray
armrests, a nice match for the leather bucket seats in gray with
perforated inserts, both in very good shape. The robust steering
wheel is also wrapped in leather with thumb controls to help
prevent having to release the wheel, and it frames the digital dash
in front that displays information in a colorful array of fonts,
digits, and shapes. It's flanked by actual needle gauges and the
center stack holds the touchscreen for the radio, navigation,
backup camera, XM, Bluetooth, USB, MyLink capabilities, and it's
linked to the Bose Premium 10 speaker surround. The climate panel
still contains knobs and switches and heated and vented seats are
included. A passenger grip bar flanks the shifter in the center
console and gray carpet floods the floor in good condition, with
Stingray mats included. In the cargo area, a body colored roof
panel awaits, securely fastened and providing an esthetic and
functional option.
Drivetrain
The bay is dressed with an engine cover and other plastic shrouds
that create a tidy appearance that's easy to keep clean. Under that
cover lurks a 6.2 liter LT1 V8 pumping out 455 horsepower and
routing power though a Tremec TR6070 7-speed manual transmission to
the rear axle with 3.42 gears and limited slip.
Undercarriage
It may have 31,000 miles but chances are, this car has never seen
rain and we're willing to bet it's never been in snow either as
it's super clean underneath. Obviously, power disc brakes are on
all four corners and independent SLA suspension is also front and
rear with transverse leaf springs. The dual exhaust flows through
original equipment and exits through the aforementioned quad tips
in the center space of the rear valance.
Drive-Ability
Not surprisingly, the car is a quick starter and quick on its feet,
here being the staggered ZR rated Michelins with a mid 2021 date
code. The car sounds fantastic, hugs you in your seat, and is an
ergonomic dream. We're also not surprised that all functional items
on the car operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall
represents that these functions were working at the time of our
test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at
the time of your purchase.
There's not much not to like about this American sports car. Great
color, clean inside and out, (and underneath), goes like stink, and
represents an E-ticket you can park in your garage. Many Vette
people have more than one, but this would also make a spectacular
first Vette if you have yet to start a collection.
