The BTR marked the beginning of RUF as a manufacturer in its own right, establishing itself as the most highly regarded of all the Porsche tuning companies. The BTR was inspired by the FIA Group B regulations of the time, utilizing a 930 Turbo as a basis to compete with the fastest products from Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche itself. The BTR was routinely regarded as the fastest accelerating road car at the time. The BTR utilized a 930 turbo engine bored to 3.4 liters and then fitted with Mahle pistons, RUF 935-type camshafts, RUF intercooler and a larger KKK turbo. This resulted in a power output of 374 bhp. Various other modifications to the car included enhancements to the body and interior, RUF sport steering wheel, RUF gauges, RUF suspension, RUF specific 17-inch wheels, RUF front spoiler with oil-cooler, Fog lights, RUF quad-pipe sport muffler, and a RUF five-speed gearbox. This particular BTR is equipped with the G50/50, only available for the 1989 model year 911 Turbo. This 930 Turbo was sold new in Germany and sent directly to RUF Automobile for a full BTR conversion. Options on the car include Sunroof, Heated sport seats and all RUF fittings as stated above.
