The Chevrolet "Task Force" was a light duty pickup introduced in
1955. This was the first major redesign for the Chevy pickup since
1947. The idea was to have a more modern design than the Advance
Design series without sacrificing any ruggedness or durability. Of
these the Cameo was king and would eventually pave the way for the
Fleetside where the rear fenders continue into the cab's body
lines. They were built from 1955-1959 and 5,220 were produced for
the 1955 model year. This 1955 Chevy truck is a high end build and
has spent a large part of its life in Texas. The builder purchased
the truck in February 2001 and invested 8 years into completing it.
It is in excellent condition throughout and runs great. The body is
very straight and all rust free. It is painted in a 2008 Corvette
Velocity Yellow with area around the rear window being a 1982 GM
Almond color. It was all professionally done by Accurate Paint &
Body out of Burleson, Texas. It really pops out in the sun and will
get attention wherever it goes. All of the glass is in good
condition and it has the big rear window which is the more
desirable body style. Up front is the iconic egg crate grill which
has a great shine along with the stock style front bumper. All of
the lights work properly and the taillights have the old school
blue dots in place. One of the most beautiful features you find on
these old trucks is the wood beds. This one is stained nicely and
has a gloss finish with stainless runners. The gas tank was
relocated to under the bed which is a nice improvement as these
often had the tank in the cab behind the seat. The truck has a
great stance and rides on a set of 17 inch classic Eagle Alloy
wheels wrapped with Sumitomo tires.
Mechanically the truck was entirely gone through and it is now
powered by a 300hp 350ci V8 crate motor. It runs great and doesn't
smoke or have any issues. It has 1,620 miles on it since completion
so it has a long life ahead of it. It is all show ready with a
chrome Chevrolet air cleaner, chrome Chevrolet valve covers, chrome
alternator, chrome AC compressor and more. It isn't just the motor
too because the entire compartment is nicely finished out with
gloss Black inner fenders and a polished stainless firewall. The
truck shows well and needs nothing. Paired with the motor is a
Turbo 350 automatic transmission which sends power back to the the
10 bolt rear end with 2:52 gears which make cruising down the
highway a breeze and greatly improves fuel economy. Up front a 1981
Firebird clip was added which brings in power front disc brakes and
power steering.
The interior is all custom and was completed by Keith Kirk's custom
interiors. It features Beige leather upholstery with Brown Ostrich
leather inserts and "Cameo" stitching on the seat backs. The seats
are out of a more modern vehicle and have a folding armrest,
headrests, 3 point retractable belts and are power adjustable. The
dash is nicely painted in a Yellow/Almond combination and has just
as slick of a finish as the body. It is topped with Dolphin gauges
in a billet bezel, polished AC vents, AC/Heat controls and a custom
Alpine stereo that sounds great. In front of the driver is a tilt
column that is nicely painted and topped off with a two spoke
steering wheel with a Chevrolet horn button.
These Cameos are very popular classics to own and this one is a
very nice example. When you note things like the Chevy bowtie bolts
used on the tailgate the high level of detail becomes apparent.
This pickup is offered up with a clear Texas title and needs
nothing but a new garage to call home.
This beautiful truck could be yours for $64,900.00!
