was created on December 1, 1914, through the 5 Maserati brothers
who were involved in racing automobiles in one form or another. As
the Maserati brothers were building cars for Diatto, in 1926 Diatto
suspended the production of race cars, leading to the creation of
the first Maserati and the founding of the Maserati marque. One of
the first Maseratis, driven by Alfieri Maserati, won the 1926 Targa
Florio. Maserati is long steeped and respected in sports and racing
car production. With the introduction of the 3500GT with
its all new Aluminium 3.5 Liter engine and body by Carrozzeria
Touring Superleggera of Milan was an instant success and rightfully
so. A true GT (Grand Touring) car with 2+2 seating, beautiful body,
roomy, comfortable and speed all in one package. This
3500GT being offered has long term collector history. It
was owned for over 30 years by George Kopscicks who purchased the
car while he was in college. Mr. Kopscicks used the
3500GT as his daily driver. Once retired from daily use,
he undertook a full photo/documented restoration of the car
spanning 6 years and which was completed in 2002. The most recent
owner purchased the car from Mr.Kopscicks in 2011 adding it to his
collection. Since, it has been enjoyed and has been a regularly
participant in various well-known vintage rally's such as The
Going to Sun Rally, Coppa Alpina Rally, Coppa Corsa
Rally, Little Switzerland Rally and Alfa Romeo
Rally. Recently serviced by Autosport Designs, Inc., this
3500GT is ready and able to be enjoyed by its next caretaker and as
its previous owners have to date. It comes complete with
period photographs, three restoration portfolio binders, Spare
wheel, jack and Lug wrench.
