Long term collector care. The Maserati company was created on
December 1, 1914, through the 5 Maserati brothers who were involved
in racing automobiles in one form or another. As the Maserati
brothers were building cars for Diatto, in 1926 Diatto suspended
the production of race cars, leading to the creation of the first
Maserati and the founding of the Maserati marque. One of the first
Maseratis, driven by Alfieri Maserati, won the 1926 Targa Florio.
Maserati is long steeped and respected in sports and racing car
production. With the introduction of the 3500GT with its all new
Aluminium 3.5 Liter engine and body by Carrozzeria Touring
Superleggera of Milan was an instant success and rightfully so. A
true GT (Grand Touring) car with 2+2 seating, beautiful body,
roomy, comfortable and speed all in one package. This 3500GT being
offered has long term collector history. It was owned for over 30
years by George Kopscicks who purchased the car while he was in
college. Mr. Kopscicks used the 3500GT as his daily driver. Once
retired from daily use, he undertook a full photo/documented
restoration of the car spanning 6 years and which was completed in
2002. The most recent owner purchased the car from Mr.Kopscicks in
2011 adding it to his collection. Since, it has been enjoyed and
has been a regularly participant in various well-known vintage
rally's such as The Going to Sun Rally, Coppa Alpina Rally, Coppa
Corsa Rally, Little Switzerland Rally and Alfa Romeo Rally.
Recently serviced by Autosport Designs, Inc., this 3500GT is ready
and able to be enjoyed by its next caretaker and as its previous
owners have to date. It comes complete with period photographs,
three restoration portfolio binders, Spare wheel, jack and Lug
wrench.
