While the Chevelle name has been long gone from Chevy's showroom
for decades, its legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of muscle
car enthusiasts everywhere. One look at this 1970 Chevrolet
Chevelle LS2 Restomod, and it's easy to see why this car has been
so lusted after. Fully repainted in a beautiful Chalk Grey with
complementing red and grey painted racing stripes, this Chevelle
showcases its hood-pinned cowl hood, along with its huge polished
wheels that not-so-subtly hint at the car's modern technology.
Inside, we find a nicely done black vinyl interior. A center
console separates a pair of bucket seats, sporting red SS badge
stitching. A three-spoke power-assisted steering wheel sits ahead
of a trick Dakota Digital gauge cluster, highlighted by an 8,000
rpm tachometer and 150 mph speedometer. A digital AM/FM/Bluetooth
head unit keeps the modern vibe going, while a Vintage Air HVAC
setup keeps things cool.
Under that expansive hood, we find a late-model 6.0-liter overhead
valve V-8 engine. With a lightweight aluminum block and heads,
sequential-port fuel injection, a composite intake manifold, and
high-flow injectors, this Gen IV small block is capable of
producing a minimum of 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.
That output is funneled through a 4L60E four-speed automatic
transmission before heading out to the ten-bolt rear end that
transfers power to the pavement via a set of massive 20-inch Billet
Specialties wheels shod in 275/35R-19 low-profile rubber. At the
same time, a staggered set of 19-inch wheels is wrapped in narrower
245/35R-19 tires that handle steering duties up front.
