Muscle cars and black paint go together like James Bond and Aston
Martins. This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS Restomod Tribute is proof of
that analogy. This Camaro couldn't look better with its deep gloss
black exterior, black interior, and of course, racing
stripes-another muscle car favorite. And who can resist chrome rims
with chrome bumpers, a black grille with hideaway headlights, and a
chin spoiler? Add in the cowl induction hood, rear spoiler, and the
rest of the chrome trim, and this really is a car enthusiast's
dream.
The interior setup stays mostly original-looking with a
stock-configured gauge cluster on the dash and center console
fitted with aftermarket gauges that don't take away from the stock
appearance. The console itself looks sharp with woodgrain veneer
inlays and the staple shifter gear selector. The dash, door panels,
headliner, and carpet are all in good condition, while the custom
steering wheel adds a little sportiness to the interior. Adding a
touch of class is the black vinyl and cloth Houndstooth seating,
which is very well-maintained and ties in perfectly with the rest
of the interior theme.
The drivetrain for this muscle car is strong and efficient. Power
comes from a 5.7-liter LS1 engine with a Holley TerminatorX
Electronic Fuel Injection system, paired with a monitor/controller
mounted inside the vehicle. The LS1 is mated to a 4L60E 4-speed
automatic transmission that sends power to a 10-bolt rear axle with
a Perfect Launch differential cover.
The front suspension features Hotchkis tubular control arms with
coil springs, Fox Shocks, and a sway bar, while the rear features
leaf springs, Fox Shocks, and another sway bar. For shoes, the
Camaro has 18-inch US Mag chrome wheels wrapped in 225/40ZR18 tires
up front, and 20-inch US Mag wheels with 275/30ZR20 tires in the
rear. Stopping power comes from four-wheel disc brakes, while
shorty headers running to dual exhaust with Flo-Pro mufflers ensure
this Camaro sounds as good as it looks.
