If you're one of those all-original, numbers-matching car seekers,
this 1970 Oldsmobile 442 is about as close to that as you will get.
With only 1,688 Olds 442 Sports Coupes known to be produced in
1970, this is one heck of a gem. This is a barn find vehicle that
is believed to have spent most of its life in Arizona. In 2000, it
received a full restoration, where the Burgundy Mist paint job was
redone, the interior brought back to life, and the numbers-matching
engine and transmission preserved. This is a beautifully restored
piece of American automotive history.
The interior is well-restored and preserved. The Ivory White bucket
seats and rear bench seat are in good shape. The door panels match
in color and condition. The headliner is white and tight, and the
black carpet looks clean, as do the door jambs and OEM door sills.
Brown decorative inlays are placed in the door panels, center
console, and across the dashboard. A locking storage compartment is
built into the center console, which also houses the floor shifter.
The dashboard presents well-the gauges are clear and easy to read,
and a factory AM/FM radio and ventilation controls are functional.
Aftermarket Sunpro gauges are neatly mounted under the dashboard
for additional engine monitoring.
The engine bay looks immaculate, with black paint surrounding the
Oldsmobile blue-painted numbers-matching 455 V8, fitted with a new
Quadrajet 4-barrel carburetor. Connected to this big block is a
TH400 3-speed automatic, which is also numbers-matching and sends
power back to a 12-bolt rear axle. Both the front and rear
suspension feature coil springs, shocks, and sway bars for a
comfortable ride. The 14-inch OEM Super Stock III wheels are
wrapped in GR70-14 Firestone tires, while braking is handled by
front power discs and rear power drum brakes. The exhaust system
features stock-style exhaust manifolds connected to dual pipes
running through Flowmaster mufflers for a little extra rumble.

This is one of the more powerful muscle cars of the era. With a
big-block 455 V8, it stood toe-to-toe with the other big boys from
the late '60s and early '70s. Not only is the vehicle itself rare,
but being numbers-matching makes it even more desirable. To get
