Sporting a tastefully aggressive appearance and wearing a great
color, this 1972 Ford Bronco 4x4 is an outstanding representative
of its model in its iconic first-generation form. From front to
back, this classic SUV has plenty of aesthetic impact, while also
being configured for real adventure. It features custom-fabricated
bumpers at both ends that have been treated with bedliner for
protection from the road, which contrast perfectly with its
Brittany Blue Metallic exterior, and you'll find a pair of AMP
Research side steps in place for easy access. Additionally, it
features an outstanding stance that affords plenty of ground
clearance without detracting from its curb appeal. One look at this
ride and you'll have no trouble seeing why Ford chose to keep the
first-generation Bronco form largely intact for 12 full model
years.
Climb inside and you'll see that the interior reflects that same
balance of aesthetics with an action-centric configuration. Both
the contoured bucket seats in front and the bench seat in back are
clad in brown vinyl that still appears fresh, and they sit over a
floor covered in bedliner to make post-off-roading cleanups a
breeze. Venture onto rugged terrain and you'll be protected by a
roll cage that's been bolted to strengthening plates for
reinforcement, and when it's time to reinflate your tires to
accommodate your return to the asphalt, there's an ARB Compressor
onboard to make the job easy. Just beyond the woodgrain steering
wheel, the dash area is in very good shape, with the original-style
gauge still in place to display its readings behind a clear
lens.
Raise the aftermarket fiberglass hood and you'll see a nice, clean
engine bay, at the center of which sits a period-correct 302
cubic-inch V8 that's been outfitted with a Holley Sniper
fuel-injection system to increase both adjustability and
cold-weather performance. Outfitted with a polished March
serpentine pulley kit, the engine starts up eagerly, idles as
smoothly as you could want, and pairs with a 4-speed automatic
transmission that was only recently rebuilt and shifts without
issue. The exhaust system features shorty headers that lead out to
a pair of Flowmaster mufflers, providing just the right sound for a
rugged ride like this.
