Cruisin Classics is pleased to present to you this 1955 Chevrolet
3100. This truck represents the first year of Chevrolet's Task
Force series, and it's quite a nice example. Some of the previous
owners have made pretty significant investments in this beauty to
get it to where it is today. This 3100 comes to us today dressed in
a high-quality coat of dark blue-grey paint that looks simply
spectacular on it. We know from receipts that come with the truck
that in 2015, a Columbus, Ohio, company called Classic Resurrection
took the cab off of the frame, put on new doors and fenders, fixed
the inner and outer cab corners and part of the floor, sandblasted
it, and prepped it for paint (about $20K of work!). We don't have
receipts for the new paint and we assume that it may have been done
by the owner at the time. We do know that the result is a
great-looking paint job on a solid body with better panel fitment
than you'll find on most trucks of this genre. At the front end,
this 3100 features a gleaming chrome eggcrate grille and bumper
with single round headlights in bright bezels on the fenders. The
hood badge has been deleted for a clean look. Bright wiper arms and
elegantly curved dual chrome side mirrors add to the sparkle.
Around the side, you'll see that the "3100" fender badges have also
been deleted, and only a "V8" badge remains. Brightwork continues
on the sides with door handles, the gas cap, and trim that frames
the windows and wraps all the way around the back of the cab.
Adding yet more pop to the side view are a set of 5-slot chrome
rally wheels with "Chevrolet Motor Division" centercaps. Tires are
staggered with Cooper Cobra Radial GT's (255 60 R15) up front and
Hankook Ventus H101's (275 60 R15) on the rear. Around back is a
beautiful wood bed with bright dividers, a "CHEVROLET" tailgate,
chrome taillight housings, and another nice chrome bumper.
Hiding under the bulbous hood is a tidy black engine bay that's
home to a black GM 350ci V-8 crate motor. The V-8 is topped off
with aluminum valve covers, a black Edelbrock Performer EPS intake,
an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, and a black Edelbrock air
cleaner. Additionally, there's a black alternator and power
steering. Exhaust travels through Sanderson headers and Flowmaster
mufflers before emptying behind the rear tires with a satisfying
rumble. The V-8 is mated to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission
that shifts smoothly and puts power to the rubber in the rear via a
10-bolt differential. Stopping power comes courtesy of power front
discs and rear drums with a CPP booster, master cylinder, and
proportioning valve.
When you open the driver's door, both overhead and underdash
courtesy lights pop on to give you a look at the very nice black
and grey interior. The grey painted doors are simplistic, with
black armrests, handles, and window cranks. Step inside and have a
seat on the high-quality black vinyl bench, complete with
seatbelts. Underfoot is black hook & loop carpet with carpeted
mats, and overhead is a black textured plastic headliner. Ahead of
the driver is a 3-spoke black-ringed steering wheel with a working
"bowtie" horn button on a tilt column. Beyond the wheel is a grey
painted dash that features a great-looking chrome-framed V-shaped
gauge cluster from Classic Instruments ($1,049 new!). It offers
gauges for temp, volts, oil, and fuel as well as a 140mph
speedometer and 8K tach. The odometer reads 1,112, and the title
says that those are discrepancy miles (probably the mileage since
the build was completed). The remainder of the dash has quite a few
knobs and accessories that are inoperative - like the manual choke
and cigarette lighter. In the center of the dashboard, there is an
AM radio that lights up red but does not work, and no speakers
appear to be present. Though there are wiper arms and blades, they
don't currently operate. Further to the right are heater and fan
controls that are also inoperative. Directly ahead of the passenger
is a glovebox with a key. Under the das,h you'll find an old-school
hand-pull e-brake lever and working vent pulls that let some
additional fresh air into the cab.
If you're looking for a cool-looking 50's truck with tons of style
that won't break the bank, you're going to want to check this Chevy
3100 out! All the hard work has been done, and it's ready to start
enjoying immediately - allowing you the ability to finish up the
several inoperative features over time. I can imagine a future
owner adding Vintage Air & Heat, a killer stereo, and working
wipers to this truck and really taking it to the next level! This
is a great-looking and driving truck that does not disappoint on
the road! Give our friendly staff a call today because at this
price, it surely won't be here for long!
