This 1974 Volkswagen Beetle Baja is an absolute standout. With its
well-fitted and action-centric appearance, it's easy to picture it
traversing rugged terrain with no civilization in sight. Yet, its
excellent aesthetics make it appear right at home in more
residential settings. From close range, you'll appreciate its
visual impact even more. Clad in Raptor Blue Metallic bedliner,
which not only gives it a one-of-a-kind look but also provides
protection from the elements, it features some great exterior
upgrades. It's crowned by a custom roof rack that offers ample
storage while anchoring a pair of LED halo lights. The contrasting
black bumpers at both ends are in clean shape and really complement
its appearance.
There has been some well-focused attention lavished on the interior
as well. It features a black vinyl bench seat in front that's still
plenty comfortable and is bracketed by door panels to each side and
a headliner above that are free of any excessive wear, a welcome
find for a vehicle in this VW's segment. In the back, the rear seat
has been removed to make way for a hinged 3-drawer toolbox that
lifts easily out of the way, providing access to the battery. The
soundtrack for your adventures will be provided by an AM/FM/CD
stereo that features Bluetooth connectivity and teams with a set of
Memphis Audio speakers that have been seamlessly installed in the
back.
This rugged Beetle is powered by a 2110cc engine that began life in
factory configuration before being enhanced with extra
displacement. Fed by a 2-barrel Dellorto carburetor, it sounds
great as it sends a distinctive note out of the tubular header that
leads to a custom muffler in back. An added Flamethrower
distributor enhances available spark as the engine pairs with a
4-speed manual transmission that shifts without issue. Front disc
brakes offer fade-resistant stopping power that will come in handy
both in traditional driving conditions and on roads less
travelled.
