For Sale: 1968 Ford Mustang in MADISONVILLE, Texas

Vehicle Description

  • Originally titled in Arizona, this rust-free 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback has been carefully restored while preserving the features that make it unique. Factory equipped with air conditioning, the Deluxe Interior Package, and the rarely seen front bench seat, it represents an uncommon configuration seldom encountered on a first-generation Mustang fastback.

Finished in yellow over a Black Deluxe interior, the cabin retains its factory woodgrain trim, overhead console, and distinctive bench seat while benefiting from several tasteful upgrades that enhance comfort without changing the character of the car. Bray's installed a completely new Vintage Air climate control system, replacing the original factory air conditioning components with a modern, highly reliable system that maintains a clean, factory-inspired appearance.

Power comes from a professionally rebuilt 289 cubic-inch V8, paired with a rebuilt C4 automatic transmission, both completed in 2021 and driven fewer than 500 miles since completion. The engine has been upgraded with a Holley 600 CFM four-barrel carburetor, Weiand Street Warrior aluminum intake manifold, electronic ignition, Ford Racing air cleaner, and a new three-row aluminum radiator. A dual Flowmaster exhaust system provides the traditional small-block Ford sound without overwhelming the driving experience.

The suspension and steering systems have also been extensively refreshed with new Moog steering components, lower control arms, lower ball joints, a larger front sway bar, Monroe rear air shocks, and a front disc brake conversion. Additional chassis improvements include a Monte Carlo bar and export brace, resulting in a Mustang that drives with confidence while retaining the feel of a classic first-generation fastback.

This Mustang has been restored to be driven and enjoyed. Its rust-free Arizona heritage, uncommon factory equipment, professionally rebuilt drivetrain, and thoughtful mechanical improvements make it an outstanding example of one of Ford's most recognizable performance cars.

Model History

The 1968 Mustang represented the continued refinement of Ford's original pony car, building on the success of the redesigned 1967 model while maintaining the styling and performance that made the Mustang one of America's most successful automobiles. The fastback remained the most sporting body style, combining sleek proportions with a practical fold-down rear seat and unmistakable roofline.

Buyers could order the Mustang with an extensive list of factory options, allowing each car to be tailored to individual tastes. Features such as the Deluxe Interior Packagefactory air conditioning, and the exceptionally uncommon front bench seat illustrate the remarkable flexibility Ford offered during this period. While many fastbacks were ordered with bucket seats and performance-oriented equipment, factory bench-seat cars remain a rarity today.

Rust-free Western examples have long been sought after for their solid body structure, and professionally restored cars that retain desirable factory equipment continue to be among the most enjoyable first-generation Mustangs to own. This example combines those qualities with carefully selected mechanical upgrades that improve reliability, comfort, and drivability while preserving the appearance and character that have made the 1968 Mustang Fastback an enduring American classic.
