*1971 Porsche 911 T*There are few more identifiable shapes in the
automotive world than that of the Porsche 911. Since its start in
1964, the shape of the 911 has gone through an evolution to keep up
with changing customer expectations and requirements, but the
silhouette has remained true to the original. In recent years,
nearly all of the classic 911s have seen a spike in value and
interest among collectors - with some of the most sought after
being the "Long Hood" cars produced between 1964 and 1973. This
example is a 1971 911 T that has been under the care of just three
owners from new.Finished in Ivory over a black leatherette
interior, this 911 T shows 56,342 miles which are believed to be
original, and was delivered new to Baltimore, MD in June 1971. The
consignor states the car was treated to a full respray under the
first owner's care, sometime before 1990. It is said that this was
done using paint sourced from Porsche in Germany to ensure it
matched perfectly and was as original as possible. It worked well
as the car received an award from the Porsche Car Club of America
for preservation. As a 1971, this was the first model year that
introduced hot-dip Zinc coating to improve rust-proofing which was
hardly seen on any vehicles of this era. Sitting on a set of the
quintessential early 911 wheel - the 5-spoke Fuchs, this car has
the look that everyone hopes for with a classic 911.The interior is
beautifully understated, with two comfortable seats up front
wrapped in black leatherette and a pair of smaller seats in back
which can be folded down to make a parcel shelf. Slide behind the
large four-spoke steering wheel and you are met by Porsche's
classic 5-gauge cluster with a big central tachometer, with a pair
of dual auxiliary gauges to the left, and a speedometer and clock
to the right. You will notice a small row of vents along the bottom
of the dashboard at the passenger's side which are there due to the
factory air conditioning system. Much like the exterior of the car,
the interior is very original and presents pretty much as it would
have when new with square-weave carpeting and a crack-free
dashboard.Sitting behind the passenger compartment is a 2.2-liter
air cooled flat-6 engine, which, in 911 T form is topped by a pair
of Zenith 40TIN carburetors. In US trim, the car produces 125
horsepower and 131 lb-ft of torque and loves to rev to its 6,500
rpm redline. With a curb weight of just 2,249 lbs, this car is
remarkably quick and the perfectly spaced gears in the dog-leg
5-speed manual gearbox make it a joy to drive. Mechanically the car
has been well cared for and with a little bit of time spent
cleaning under the engine lid, you could prepare this car for a
return to the show circuit.Driving a classic 911 is a fantastic
experience and is pretty much impossible to replicate in any other
car. With the unique rear-engine layout, air cooled flat-6 engine
and an unrivaled view out the windshield, these cars offer a
satisfying drive and make a great conversation piece wherever you
go. This example has been exceptionally kept over its life under
the care of just three conscientious owners and will hopefully
provide many more years of enjoyable motoring for whoever is lucky
enough to have it in their garage.*Key Features* * Three Owners
