With its clean, flowing lines, a stance that's just right, and
dressed in a very pleasing shade of red, this 1936 Pontiac Master
Six Two-Door Touring Sedan is one seriously stylish ride. Featuring
a streamlined appearance for its day, that's accented by a set of
close-set headlights, a tapered grille, and a pair of vents running
along the sides of its engine cover, this is a classic that's sure
to turn heads. Just as you'd hope for in a car of this era, there's
plenty of chrome on display, and it really shows nicely. Better
still, this vintage cruiser was built to drive and not sit idly by
in your garage. It features several upgrades that make it
well-suited for regular outings.
Open the generously proportioned doors and you'll like what you see
inside. The interior is looking sharp. Neither the pair of black
and red buckets, nor the rear bench seat show much wear, and the
carpeting running beneath them is in matching condition. Above, the
headliner is nice and tight. Lower yourself into the driver's seat
and you'll find a collection of Dolphin gauges in place that
display their readings through clear gauges, along with a tilt
column, so that you can arrive at the perfect driving position.
Obviously, seatbelts weren't among the options when this stylish
Pontiac first saw the light of day, but you'll find a pair
installed up front for added safety. In the back, the luggage
compartment is nicely finished and provides a lot of room for
weekend excursions.
This classic has obviously been configured to enjoy on the road.
Underneath its hood sits a 305 cubic-inch V8 that's outfitted with
a 4-barrel carburetor. It starts up on cue, idles smoothly, and
offers good acceleration while pairing with a 3-speed automatic
TH350 transmission that has a well-deserved reputation for
rock-solid dependability. True to form, it shifts with slip-free
precision as you send it into action via the Lokar-style floor
shifter. The steering on this classic Pontiac is reassuringly
solid, with no excessive play or bumpsteer to have to deal with,
and power disc brakes that feature discs up front provide the
stopping power you'd want during frequent driving.
