Here is a true survivor car. Outside of a repaint at one point in
its life and general maintenance, this 1966 Plymouth Fury III is
basically original and full of character. The white exterior pairs
nicely with the black vinyl top and chrome accents. The front
grille remains in original form, the bumpers still hold a lot of
shine, and the whitewall tires with chrome hubcaps and rear fender
skirts add real personality.
Looking inside, you'll find the interior in much the same condition
as the exterior-mostly stock and in solid shape. The vinyl seats
and door panels are holding up well for their age. The carpets
remain decent, along with the dashboard. The gauge cluster appears
original, and the gauges present well. Also intact are the original
radio, heat, and defrost controls, as well as the factory dashboard
clock. The door jambs and sills are clean, the weatherstripping is
holding up well, and the trunk is tidy with a spare tire ready for
emergencies.
The engine bay is as simple as it gets. Between the white wheel
wells sits a 318 cubic-inch V8 engine with a 2-barrel carburetor.
Power is delivered through a TorqueFlight 3-speed automatic
transmission connected to a factory Ford rear axle. The suspension
is equally straightforward, with a torsion bar setup in the front
and leaf springs with air shocks in the rear. This long '66
Plymouth rides on 14-inch wheels with aluminum hubcaps wrapped in
215/75R14 tires. Drum brakes handle stopping duties, while a stock
exhaust system keeps things quiet.
