"If you're unfamiliar with the Jailbreak option, it allows
customers to purchase a Charger or Challenger and deeply customize
it from the factory with 20 different category options. Things like
seats, wheels, exterior badges, stripes and more can be optioned in
nearly any way the customer desires. Some of those extra options
include recently re released heritage colors like B5 Blue, Plum
Crazy, Sublime Green, and the popular and returning Destroyer
Gray." HotRod Oct, 2022
For consignment, a 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Jailbreak
convertible with a title verified 1,184 actual miles. Wait, did we
say convertible? Why, yes we did and this unit was converted by
Drop Top Customs in Miami, so if you've ever wanted to know what
807 horsepower feels like blowing through your hair, your ship has
just landed.
Exterior
There's no mistaking the Go Mango orange paint on this muscle car
and there's no missing the 20-inch black wheels with 40 series ZR
rated tires and orange brake calipers. Then of course, there's that
black top, contrasting for sure but unobtrusive otherwise. Put it
away however and the car changes personalities from street brawler
to sun worshiper without losing its intimidating presence,
especially since removing the top does nothing to the front end,
where aggressive nostrils inhale air over sinister eyes, gaping
intakes, and an air dam that could probably flip cows off the road.
In back, more black completes the outer palette on the tail light
panel, rear wing, and valance. The conversion is nicely executed
and looks as though the factory could have built it and other than
some chin scrapes, the exterior is flawless.
Interior
It's standard issue on the inside and that translates to handsome
and efficient door panels, all in black and gussied up with suede
inserts. The material also serves as the inserts for the robust,
bolstering buckets seats with white stitching and an embroidered
Hellcat to match. Back seat riders get the same treatment in seats
that are flatter and able to accommodate three brave souls. Shaped
for slightly sweaty human hands, the steering wheel contains the
perfect ergonomic grooves and lots of buttons that encourage
drivers to not let go! The red backed gauges are a nice touch and
match the Jailbreak plate on the passenger side. Everything else is
relayed through electronic screens, one between the gauges and the
other, a touchscreen, in the center and it's tied to the AM/FM/CD
radio with the Harman Kardon audio group that includes 18 speakers,
U-Connect, Bluetooth, XM capability, and navigation. A control
panel and A/C switchgear is in the center console just ahead of the
stout shifter and cupholders. The trunk is finished in gray cloth
panels and like the rest of the interior, is essentially in
showroom condition.
Drivetrain
The engine that wowed the world is also factory fresh, the 6.2
liter supercharged Hemi V8 in all its glory, capable of 807
horsepower routed through a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic and of
course, power gets blasted to the rear axle where it finds 2.62
gears with AntiSpin.
Undercarriage
Some road splatter but otherwise clean as could be underneath. We
have four wheel power disc brakes by Brembo along with dual exhaust
through its original equipment mufflers. Competition suspension
includes MacPherson struts in front and coil springs on the
independent rear.
Drive-Ability
As professionals, we show the utmost restraint, but there's no
question what's lurking under our seats, and it's pure magic, as
the world knows by now. As a practically new car, it does
everything well and while we didn't ride with top down, we're sure
it only intensifies the experience. All functions on board,
naturally, operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall
represents that these functions were working at the time of our
test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at
the time of your purchase.
They say the appeal of true sportscars, that is the line of British
roadsters, is the experience of the wind in your face, the sound of
the road, the smell of the fumes. Well, outside of the fumes, there
are plenty of potential thrills to be had with the top down
including a more pronounced exhaust note. This is a wild ride and a
unique Mopar and among the cadre that always show up at car shows
and Cars and Coffee, you'll likely have the only drop top!
