This 1974 Ford F-250 Highboy Custom is a really nice, really clean
Highboy that spent its life in Eastern Oregon and Idaho. Previous
owner had this truck for the last 10 + years. It is getting very
hard to find affordable Highboy's anymore and this is a great find.
The body is super clean and straight. It was repainted at some
point in its original color of Raven Black and the paint is still
really nice. This truck does have the Factory Custom Trim that
looks nice. The original grille shell and bumpers are also still in
nice condition. The inside of the bed still has the original paint
and is super straight. It has a cool aluminum headache rack and
aluminum tool box. The underside is extra nice. This truck was
factory undercoated when new and most of the undercoating is still
there. some of it has flaked off and the metal underneath the
undercoating looks new. We found no rust issues with this
truck.
The interior is really nice and was also redone at some point. It
has newer carpet, newer seat upholstery, newer headliner, and newer
door panel inserts. The dash is original with some cracks and it
has a cover on it. The headlights, taillights, brakelights, and
turn signals are all working. The gauges all work (some are
aftermarket for more accurate readings). The windshield wipers and
the heat work. The horn is not working probably because of the
aftermarket steering wheel.
Mechanically this truck is excellent and it runs and drives great!
This truck originally came with a 5.8L 360 V8, but the previous
owner stated it was re-powered with a 6.9L 390 V8. Unfortunately we
have no documentation proving this and since the blocks are the
same there is no way for us to tell for sure. He also stated that
the top end was rebuilt with rebuilt heads, 4 Barrel Intake, and
Holley 4 Barrel Carb. The engine runs strong and the truck has
plenty of power. There is also dual exhaust. It has the np 435 4
Speed Manual Transmission that shifts nice with a good clutch. It
is mated to the Divorced np 205 Transfer case and the 4WD works
like it should. It has a Dana 60 rear axle with 4.10 gears and a
Dana 44 front axle with 4.10 gears. This truck has power steering
and power brakes. This truck has 2 Saddle tanks installed and they
are all plumbed and ready to go. Unsure how long since they have
been used and we have not switched them to try in case the gas is
old. This truck is sittying on a set aof aftermarket aluminum rims
with a nice set of All terrain Tires size 285/70/17.
