For Sale: 2005 Chevrolet SSR in Mesa, Arizona

Vehicle Description

Chevrolet debuted the Super Sports Roadster (SSR) concept at the 2000 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan. Inspired by the iconic look of the 1949 Chevrolet pickup truck, the SSR echoed the interest of auto designers in vintage automobiles with the likes of the Chrysler PT Cruiser, Plymouth Prowler and Ford Thunderbird. To the surprise of the auto world, GM's CEO Rick Wagoner announced at the show that the SSR would be put into production.

Chevy originally equipped the SSR with a 300-hp Vortec 5300 V-8 to give it plenty of "go" to match the "show." Under the rigid rear tonneau cover rests 23.7 cubic feet of carpeted storage adding to its versatility. To showcase the new vehicle, the SSR paced the 2003 Indianapolis 500 and one was driven during that year's Woodward Dream Cruise in Metro Detroit. Production versions with staggered 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels were introduced for the 2004 model year priced at a rather lofty $42,555. For 2005, an LS-2 V-8 was fitted, now rated at 390 hp, making this 2005 Chevrolet SSR very desirable. Production ended on 17 March 2006 after Chevrolet built just 24,150 units, including only 7,196 for the 2005 model year.
This 2005 Chevrolet SSR stands out as a rare gem that been driven only 25,820 since it was new. Adding it its desirability, this Chevy SSR is finished stunningly in Slingshot Yellow (one of only 1,347 in 2005). The SSR's allure is further amplified by its distinctive power convertible hardtop and complemented by a smooth cargo cover. These features, along with the staggered 19" and 20" polished alloy wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires, give this vehicle a stance and presence that is hard to ignore.

Once you step inside this 2005 Chevrolet SSR, it becomes clear that this isn't just any ride. Enveloped in rich black leather, every aspect of the interior, from the door panels to the dash, exudes a high level of care. The heated leather seats are a throne of comfort with 6-way power adjustments and heating for those cooler evenings. Air conditioning keeps you cool on hot summer days, cruise control ensures effortless highway cruising, and power steering offers precision handling. The automatic headlights light the road ahead as dusk sets like a night beacon. An upgraded Kenwood AM/FM/Bluetooth with backup camera teamed with Bose speakers, creates an in-car concert hall experience on wheels.

Underneath its sleek exterior, the 2005 Chevrolet SSR boasts a 6.0L LS2 V8 engine paired with an 4L60E automatic transmission. Equipped with 4-wheel power disc brakes and power steering, it makes handling a breeze. Additionally, this SSR has been upgraded with a K&N cold air intake. And while the engine purrs with understated confidence, the dual exhaust tips hint at its potential roar.
