Although the Tri-Five Chevy lineup may be one of the most fabled
trilogies in the history of the autoverse, it often seems like the
hierarchy isn't always in numerical order. While the '57 will
always garner plenty of attention with its big fins, and the '55
has plenty of short-fin aficionados, one look at this 1956
Chevrolet 210, and it's clear that this car splits the difference
between the two in a way only Goldilocks could appreciate. Decked
out in a full red and white repaint, this clean two-tone two-door
post will undoubtedly inspire plenty of double takes.
Inside, we find a restored stock-style vinyl interior with bench
seats at both the front and back. Chrome dashboard trim highlighted
by a 110 mph speedometer, complemented by an AM/FM/Cassette player,
and the classic Chevrolet insignia and analog clock set in front of
the passenger. Set up for air conditioning, though it is
non-functioning at the moment, the sliding HVAC controls keep the
simple things simple.
Under that signature steel hood, we find a clean engine bay
highlighted by a 283 cubic-inch V-8 engine topped with an Edelbrock
four-barrel carburetor, which feeds into a Winters intake manifold.
A stock-style exhaust manifold feeds a true dual exhaust system
that works in unison with an aluminum radiator and electric fan to
create a symphony of small-block sounds. Power funnels through a
TH350 three-speed automatic transmission before heading out to an
old-school GM dropout style 55p rear end, ultimately ending up at a
set of polished chrome US Mags wheels.
