*1965 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible*The second-generation Corvette
marked a significant shift in the model's image and was a turning
point in it becoming the car we know today. Where the C1 generation
cars looked spectacular and could be pretty quick in a straight
line, the C2 Sting Ray was the first Corvette that could truly go
up against Europe's best sports cars and in many cases, win. When
you pair that with the fact it is one of the most beautiful designs
to ever come out of an American manufacturer, there is no surprise
that even more than 60 years after its debut, the C2 remains one of
the most sought after of any Corvettes. This 1965 Corvette
Convertible was from the middle of the production run, and is
finished in Goldwood Yellow over a black vinyl interior.Offered out
of a local estate, this car was in the possession of the last owner
since the early 1980s and presents in exceptional condition. When
he acquired the car, it had recently undergone a restoration and
shows just 7,757 miles at the time of cataloging -which is likely
miles since the restoration. On the outside, this car features two
of the most looked-for features on a C2 Corvette - a side-exit
exhaust system and the multi-spoked "Turbine" style wheels. As a
1965, the car received three vertical vents on the front fenders
which distinguish it from the earlier cars. The interior of the car
is finished in black vinyl and features a pair of bucket seats and
a dual cockpit layout. With two dash humps - one filled with gauges
in front of the driver and another with the glovebox in front of
the passenger, the interior of a C2 Corvette was quite forward
thinking for the era and still looks great today. Drop into the
driver's seat and you are met by a teak-rimmed 3-spoke steering
wheel, which frames a cluster with six gauges including a large
speedometer and tachometer, flanked by fuel, temperature and
voltage gauges. The center console features a Delco AM/FM radio
mounted vertically, and an analog clock sitting atop the
stack.Under the hood sits a numbers matching 327ci V8 which was
rated from the factory at 300 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque. A
set of finned valve covers give the engine bay a bit of additional
interest when the hood is popped and a Holley four barrel
carburetor sits beneath the chrome air cleaner. Power is then sent
through a Muncie 4-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels. With
the side exhaust system, this car is an absolute joy to drive with
the top down and the 327 is an engine that loves to rev and isn't
so nose-heavy that handling is impacted. With a car like this
Corvette Convertible, it doesn't matter if you are a lover of
Corvettes or just looking for a fun open-top sports car, this
vehicle will put a smile on your face regardless. Still in
remarkable condition and just a joy to drive, this 1965 Corvette
Convertible with its numbers matching engine will be just as at
home on the local show circuit as it is winding down your favorite
backroad.*Key Features* * Goldwood Yellow over Black Vinyl Interior
