When you think about cool colors, you should think about the Root
Beer Metallic base color on this 1957 Chevrolet 3100. It's hard to
take your eyes off that amazingly rich aura the color produces, and
combined with the short bed body style, sexy front end body curves,
classic polished five-spoke wheels, and chrome front and back
bumpers, you'll stare with appreciation. The truck bed is done up
nicely with a wooden plank-style setup, and the floor pans have
been replaced, making underneath the truck look pretty darn clean.
Overall, this is a solid cruising truck that will bring a lot of
attention at car shows and cruises.
Although from the outside you may look at this truck and think
there's probably not a lot of room inside, don't let looks deceive
you. Two people of just about any size can sit comfortably in this
cabin. The interior is grey and black with beige leather seats.
There's an IDIDIT tilt steering column installed, with a cool retro
steering wheel and column shifter. The gauge cluster is complete
with a large dolphin speedometer and four smaller gauges just
above: fuel level, oil pressure, water temp, and volts. Off to the
left, you have a very inconspicuous new/old-school aftermarket
radio with AM/FM/Bluetooth, while all other buttons, knobs, and
slides look very clean and in their original place. Some other
luxuries that don't normally come in vehicles this old are power
steering, air conditioning, and a center console with cup
holders.
The engine and drivetrain are just as smooth, with a 350 cubic-inch
GM engine featuring an Assault Racing intake and Edelbrock carb. An
aluminum radiator with an electric fan keeps the engine cool, and a
brand-new serpentine belt system keeps your accessories running. A
4-speed automatic 700R4 converts power back to the 10-bolt rear
end, where the 4-link suspension and coilovers connect. Up front,
you'll find a rack-and-pinion setup with A-arms, coil springs, and
shocks. Front power disc brakes and rear power drum brakes handle
stopping duties, while the 17-inch Ridler wheels with 255/50ZR17
tires handle traction and, of course, provide a beautiful
presentation. For exhaust, Raptor mufflers and side exit tailpipes
make for a great sound-exactly what this truck deserves.
