1939 Hudson Country Club 8 Series 95 Touring Sedan
"Step into the realm of pre war automotive elegance with the 1939
Hudson Country Club Series 95. Born from the innovative minds at
Hudson Motor Car Company, this vehicle emerged as a beacon of
luxury and style in an era shadowed by global uncertainty. The 1939
Hudson Country Club Series 95 left an indelible mark on automotive
history through its blend of design innovation and luxury. It
diverged from the boxy silhouettes common at the time, offering a
glimpse into the future of car design. This model's legacy is not
just in its aesthetics but also in how it encapsulated a moment in
time when craftsmanship and attention to detail were paramount."

For consignment, a 1939 Hudson Country Club 8 Series 95 touring
sedan showing 95,252 miles, but the true miles are unknown. Take an
epic pre war design and add a modern drivetrain and you've got
yourself a fantastic vintage car you can actually drive and wrench
on when you need to!
Exterior
The unmistakable shape of the Hudson 95 puts the nose high, the
headlights low, and the illusion of a slightly down sloping hood
line thanks to the asymmetrical front windows and long pontoon
front fenders. The car itself is long, draped in single stage black
paint with tall doors and a wide running board and a high rounded
roofline. Out back, the unique split window is characteristically
smaller while the sloping deck lid is enormous and flanked by
small, teardrop tail lights at a time when small tail lights were
the norm. But below the chrome bumper, two large tailpipes are
discharged, our first indication that this might not have the
254.5ci inline 8 it came with. The other clue is the 16-inch Rocket
Racing wheels with knock offs which mimic Halibrand magnesium
wheels and give the car a slightly edgy profile. The metal work is
a combination of stung pieces and some trim that could use a
refresh, while the paint has few imperfections with some bubbling
low on a fender and some missing paint around a wheel opening.
Otherwise, it's in overall very nice condition.
Interior
Varying shades of blue adorn the door panels with diamond stitched
inserts over carpeted lower panels with only the driver's door
showing some light use. The others look new. Light blue diamond
stitched velour covers both the front and rear bench seats and with
the entire shells covered in soft cloth, they present cleanly. The
rear occupants are afforded a robe loop and ashtray ahead of them
and hold handles on the pillars, along with lots of legroom. The
ivory rim of the steering wheel is cracked but the banjo like
spokes are in nice shape and this leads to the full wooden dash
with a simple but elegant speedometer in front and an artful deco
designed center with ribbed metal trim around square gauges and
words, rather than numbers, indicating whether you have oil
pressure and a charge. For good measure on the modern engine
onboard, modern gauges have been added for essential functions. A
clock is embedded in the glove box while plush blue carpet covers
the floor and blue velour is used on the clean headliner. The trunk
is taller than it is deep and it too is finished in blue
carpet.
Drivetrain
Ah, into the future we go with a 350ci V8 with electronic fuel
injection and a TH400 3-speed automatic routing power to the 8
inch rear. The tall RamJet intake fits under the big hood just fine
and finned valve covers dress things up a bit, while headers hug
the sides and start the exhaust process. The car operates on a 12
volt system.
Undercarriage
Clean, dry, and rust are found on the belly. There's some sooty
build up on the wheel components but otherwise, it's clean
underneath. The dual exhaust runs through FlowMaster mufflers and
traverses through the X-frame to get there. Leaf springs are
utilized front and rear as are power drum brakes.
Drive-Ability
It's 1939 on the inside but once we crank the engine, the familiar
sound of a 350ci V8 rumbles through the mall and we take this
stately ride around for a dance. Originally, Country Clubs would
produce 122 horsepower but it doesn't take long to realize we have
quite a bit more on hand and it moves the big car with ease with
22570R16 tires absorbing the blows of road imperfection
effortlessly. We note that only the clock is not working but all
other functions including the modern gauges, work as they should.
While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were
working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these
functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
The perfect combination of a true classic car and a reliable
modern-esque drivetrain is the answer so many people are looking
for, or hoping to build. This one has room for the family, their
luggage, and maybe an inlaw too. It retains its vintage looks and
with less than 5,000 of these models ever produced, that's
conservation we applaud.
Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and
collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate
controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (that's more than 8
