For Sale: 1989 GMC Sierra in Harrisonville, Missouri

Vehicle Description

I purchased this truck on 12/22/1989, with 3 miles on it from Harrisonville, Mo. Ford Tractor & GMC. It came as a Cab and Chassis & before installing a Knapheide 9 ft. service bed I had Kansas City, Mo. spring works install 2 extra leaf springs so with the factory installed auxiliary leaf's it has 3 extra leaf springs on both sides of the rear axel. This truck has a 7.4 liter (454) engine with fuel injection, a 3 speed Turbo Automatic transmission, It is a Sierra SL model, 4x4 with manual front locking hubs. I used this truck as my service truck in my construction business until 1998 known as CTL ENTERPRISES, at which time I sold the service bed and had a Bradford flat bed installed by Kansas City Trailer and hitch. The bed is 9 ft. 10 inches long and 7 ft. 9 inches wide with a Delta cross bed tool box behind the cab.  It also has a headache rack that extends about 6 inches above the cab with 2x10 wooden side rails painted black. In 1998 I retired the truck to one of my shop bays that's enclosed and heated in the winter. It has not seen the sun or rain other than when I would occasionally drive it or needed a truck to haul something. This truck has always been maintained as required or prescribed with oil changes every 3000 miles, new belts and hoses about 10,000 miles back along with a complete break job and turned the front rotors by a Midas shop in Raytown, Mo. The exterior paint still has the deep red hue and I had it completely detailed 2 days ago and waxed. Within the last 30 days I have had it inspected and relicensed for 18,000 lbs. Along with all new 6 tires installed which are Hankooks 10 ply Dynapro AT2 extremes all terrains. Also, had the oil changed and new air filter. Now there is a bit of vibration when braking hard so the front rotors are not as true as they should be so I purchased New NAPA Supreme Rotors and put them in the tool box. This is not an immediate need but will come up in the future. This truck is all original except for an after market Tachometer and a cooling fan switch. The internals of the cab are almost showroom quality with one exception and that is a thin crack in the padded dash in front of the steering wheel. Last winter I replaced both fuel tanks and both fuel pumps and a new fuel tank switching valve. Fuel tank switching works perfectly now. I have the original window sticker from the truck from 1989 (I MEAN THE ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER), the original GMC manual, the GM warranty manual that shows who received the truck, how many miles on it, and when I picked it up from the dealer. Also, have the incomplete truck manual designating it as a cab and chassis.  On the rear of the flatbed are two receiver hitches with hitches installed and 3 sizes of trailer balls installed with one hitch adjustable. It has 2 DeeZee 60 inch running boards. The exterior paint is almost perfect with no rust anywhere on the body and no dings. THIS TRUCK HAS THE SOUGHT AFTER SQUARE BODY with a few bubbles on top of the front grill in the chrome tape. The battery is about 2 years old and I always keep a battery tender on the truck any time I have it parked in the shop. The AC does not work and the Cruise control does not work, the radio works but only on the left speakers and not as loud as it should be. Every thing else to the best of my knowledge works like new. It has the factory installed Heavy Duty radiator and the factory installed Transmission cooler. Also, has Burgundy Deluxe Cloth bench seat. The exhaust system is a Stainless steel system and is as good as new.

If you are looking for an original 1989 GMC V3500 Square body truck anywhere near this condition, you will not find one like it anywhere in the US. I've researched every site and no where is there a 1989  Square Body Sierra SL in ORIGINAL CONDITION LIKE THIS TRUCK with the same bells and whistles. Now, there are some that have been customized or painted etc. I have always prided myself on keeping things original and true to form as if just issued from the factory. It does have 134,500 miles which in some circles it may seem a lot but for this age of vehicle not a lot. The odometer shows 34,500 and I can testify it rolled over only the one time. I know of no other problems but without hesitation this truck is ready to haul, or tow heavy loads, the Turbo 3 speed transmissions are bullet proof and the 454 as it stands in this vehicle runs like new.  I've always tried to keep this truck as original as possible with the flat bed being the one item that takes away from that. The painted rims show some rust  and I took a few photos of the undercarriage and other than road wear the undercarriage is all intact and no where are there any heavy rust or holes. It's as solid today as the day I first picked it up.

I have no doubt that if I wanted to put it back in play that it would serve me for many more miles. THIS TRUCK IS SET UP TO SUIT ABOUT ANY INTERESTED DRIVER, BUT JUST UNDERSTAND IT IS SET UIP TO WORK BUT THE LAST MONTH OR SO I HAVE DRIVEN IT ALOT AND IT IS STILL A NICE RIDE AND RUNS OUT AT 55 OR 65 + OR - JUST FINE. IF I DON'T FORGET THE PASSANGER SIDE DOOR LOCKING POST NEEDS ADJUSTED AS IT RATTLES A LITTLE WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP.
