When the C3 Corvette made its debut for the 1968 model year, it was
the wildest car to hit the street since the Lamborghini Miura.
Patterned after Bill Mitchell's and Larry Shinoda's 1965 Mako Shark
II, the new Corvette was the culmination of 1960s Coke-bottle
excess but underneath it was the same Corvette as before. Chevrolet
engineers addressed many of the criticisms to make the 1969
Chevrolet Corvette a better car. The big news was a 350 replacing
the 327, now in 300- and 350-horsepower tunes. The press and the
public appreciated the tweaks to the tune of a record-breaking
38,762 built.
This 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible in beautiful blue is a
classic example of American muscle. With its paint glistening under
the sun and the black soft top providing a beautiful contrast, this
classic ride oozes style from every angle. The sleek lines flow
seamlessly from the pointed nose to the distinctive Corvette rear,
accentuated by the chrome bumpers and trim. A set of 15-inch rally
wheels wrapped in meaty BF Goodrich Radial TA tires provide just
the right vintage look.
Slip into the clean black vinyl interior and you're transported to
a world of classic sports car excitement. The bucket seats hug you
tight as you grip the steering wheel, admiring the clean lines of
the dash with its full complement of gauges. The original AM/FM
stereo stands ready to provide your cruising soundtrack.
Tilt the hood forward and you'll find an engine bay housing a
healthy 350 V8. Fed by a Holley Double-Pumper 4-barrel carburetor
mounted on an aluminum intake and breathing out through headers and
a rumbling dual exhaust, this powerplant delivers performance that
lives up to the Corvette's legendary reputation. The Muncie 4-speed
manual transmission puts you in full control of the rpm range as
you tear through the gears. Four-wheel power disc brakes and an
upgraded rack & pinon steering system make this classic a pleasure
to pilot both around town and on twisty backroads where the fully
independent suspension can really shine.
