This 1966 Ford Fairlane 500 is a well-preserved muscle car that
appears to be mostly in stock form. The base Zinc Yellow, also
known as Springtime Yellow, gives off a bright, warm-weather vibe
that makes you want to jump in and cruise for no reason at all. All
the trim pieces, plus the chrome bumpers, glisten during the day
and shine bright under the lights at night. The alloy wheels are an
interesting touch for this muscle car; nonetheless, they stand out
and look good. All around, this is a nice muscle car survivor that
can be comfortably cruised just about anywhere.
The interior is sharp, featuring Buckskin Tan seating and door
panels. The carpets fit nicely, as does the black dashboard. The
steering wheel is custom, while the rest of the dashboard appears
to be stock, minus the radio. The door jambs and what appear to be
original door sills look very clean, and the back seats are in just
as good condition as the front.
Under the hood sits a 289 cubic-inch V8 with an Edelbrock Z89
Performer Intake and a Holley 4-barrel carburetor. The engine bay
as a whole looks well-organized and as stock as can be.
Engine power is sent to a 3-speed automatic C4 transmission and
converted back to a Ford 8-inch rear axle. The suspension consists
of coil springs, shocks, and a sway bar up front, while the rear
uses leaf springs with shocks. Braking is handled well with front
and rear drum brakes, and traction comes from 225/55R16 front and
rear tires. For turning engine noise into music, the Fairlane runs
long tube headers, dual exhaust, and Golden Turbo mufflers.
