This 1977 Jeep CJ-5 is an all steel, very nice Jeep that spent its
life in Oregon. The last owner did a mechanical restoration it it
5-6 years ago to make it a reliable rig. Unfortunately he passed
away and we bought it from his widow who did know a ton about it so
we couldn't verify everything that was done but we did check
everything out and it is a great running and driving CJ. The body
is clean and solid and it is all steel. It has an older repaint in
its original color of Autumn Red Poly and the paint still looks
nice but it does show its age a little. The underside of this jeep
is solid and we found no rust issues with this Jeep. It has factory
front and rear bumpers and the front bumper has a Warn 8274 8,000
pound winch that works great. The front bumper also has a nice
built in removeable tow bar and a set of KC Daylighter Fog Lights.
He custom made some aluminum side rocker guards in his shop which
are pretty cool. It has a factory roll bar and an older Bestop soft
top with soft doors that is in decent shape but not new.
The interior is your basic Jeep CJ-5 interior and in nice
condition. It has newer low back bucket seats in front that look
like new. It has a vinyl floor mat and an uncut dash. The
headlights, taillights, brakelights, and turn signals are all
working. The horn, heater, and windshield wipers are also
working.
Mechanically this Jeep is excellent. It is an excellent running and
driving CJ. The enegine is an AMC 5.0L 304 V8 that runs strong with
no issues or red flags that we found. It was rebuilt at some point
but we were unable to get receipts. It appears to be totally stock.
It does have an HEI electronic ignition, headers with dual exhaust,
and a rebuilt carb. It has the T18 4 Speed Manual transmission that
shifts nice with a good clutch. It is mated to the Dana 20 transfer
case and the 4WD works like it should. The rear axle is the AMC 20
with 3.54 gears and a limited slip. The front axle is the Dana 30
with 3.54 gears. This Jeep has a 2 inch all spring lift with HD
shackles to fit the 31 Inch Mud Terrain tires on chrome wheels.
