Rare and original Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ73, medium wheel base version (versus the long wheel base FZJ75 Troopy).This is the younger, more evolved brother of the iconic FJ40/43, and is known as the MACHITO in much of the world. It is considered by many to be the toughest, most well built 4 x 4 ever. Since it was never sold new through Toyota dealers in the USA, it is very rare and highly desireable. The 70 series features a more modern angular body design, and is based upon the same tough body on frame construction. But the FZJ73 comes with standard features never available on the FJ40. One huge advancement was the new (in 1994) 1FZF I-6, 4.5 liter, DOHC, 24 valve, 185 hp, 268 ft/lb torque, carburated gas motor. It is known around the globe as a powerful, reliable, easy to repair, power plant. The upgraded power is linked to a R150F, five-speed manual transmission, a beefy T-100 high and low range transfer case, big Toyota differentials, solid axles, and a reliable leafspring suspension. This beauty also has creature comforts like power steering, power front disc brakes (power drums in rear), air conditioning, tinted power windows, comfortable seating for five, a full compliment of useful gauges, an amplified touch-screen stereo, back-up camera, and a multi function alarm system.
This garage-kept survivor has been driven on weekends, and professionally maintained through out its life. It runs and drives like new, and the motor has strong 150 psi compression on all six cylinders. It has new tires and battery, and the interior and seats are original (with Toyota emblems), comfortable, and in great condition. Many of them have expensive, cancer causing diesels that lack the responsive power Americans demand. Or they are the early 70 series (1985 – 1993) with the weak, outdated 4.2 liter gas motor.
