For Sale: 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air in Statesville, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

HIGHLIGHTS: • Great driver! • Factory C-VIN Bel Air! • Black on blue! • 235ci inline six-cylinder w/ 3-speed manual • Believed to be largely original metal BODY OVERVIEW: This Bel Air is a driver to its core, and a great reminder that not every car "back in the day" was a souped-up hot rod. The body appears to be largely original metal, and has great curb appeal. Up close, there are some noticeable imperfections such as minor dings, and "road rash" on the undercarriage. The undercarriage appears to be unrestored, and by that measure presents extremely well. PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: This Bel Air was fully repainted in the recent past, and had a color change from its original Coral to Onyx Black. The black paint does wonders for this Bel Air combined with the Bel Air trim, and only adds to its overall curb appeal. This is not a show-level respray, but it is perfect for a nice driver vehicle like this! Imperfections including chips and scratches are present up close, but it still looks great in the sun. Last but not least, a tasteful set of modern Ridler chrome wheels wrapped in Toyo tires really set this thing off! INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: The interior in this Bel Air appears to be its original blue cloth, and while there are stains and other imperfections present, this is to be expected for an original interior of this vintage. The seats and door panels have held up remarkably well over the past 70 years, and are in what we would consider "driver condition." The headliner hasn't fared quite as well, as significant staining is present throughout. Much like the rest of the car, the interior appears to be highly original down to the original Motorola Volumatic AM radio! MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Under the hood is a period-correct 235ci inline six-cylinder Chevrolet engine. Now before you turn your nose up at the lack of a V8, it is important to note that not only is the Chevy 235 one of the most reliable engines Chevrolet ever made, but it also produced only about 40 horsepower less than the optional 265ci V8 for 1955. This means that its quieter, more fuel efficient, and still plenty adequate to haul this '55 down the road comfortably! This Bel Air has a quiet and confident purr to it that can only be achieved with a six-cylinder engine, and it drives just like a '55 should. The 3-on-the-tree manual transmission adds a fun layer of driver engagement, and is sure to be a fun conversation piece with those not in the know! Though there is no power steering and no power brakes, and certainly no air conditioning, this Bel Air continues to serve as a pleasant reminder of the type of vehicle that was most prevalently prowling the streets in the mid-late 1950s. If you're looking for a no-frills classic cruiser that can haul the whole family, this Bel Air fits the bill! WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: • Classic car style at a budget-friendly price point! • Unrestored condition-they're only like this once! • Muscley style with family cruiser functionality WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: • Repainted in non-original color • No comfort features or high-horsepower engine DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? • The heater works, but the lever knobs are missing and it is stuck on floor heat • The original AM radio does not power on, the reverse lights do not work, and the temperature gauge is stuck. WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? Whether you're a Tri-Five enthusiast looking to add a 4-door to the collection, or simply a mid-century admirer looking to take the whole family for a cruise in an affordable classic, this Bel Air could be a great option!
