This 1968 Pontiac GTO Resto-Mod is a striking example of classic
muscle car styling combined with modern performance upgrades,
offering the best of both worlds for enthusiasts who want power,
comfort, and timeless appeal. Built from a true factory 242 GTO,
this car retains its original identity but has been elevated to a
performance level that far surpasses its stock configuration.
At its heart is the rebuilt original 400 V8, enhanced with
performance upgrades to produce a staggering 600 horsepower while
still maintaining a stock-style appearance. The engine is fed by a
Sniper EFI fuel injection system for reliability and drivability,
paired with Doug's headers, an MSD ignition system, and a 3-inch
Ryan stainless steel exhaust system. Cooling is managed by a Be
Cool aluminum radiator with dual fans, ensuring temperatures stay
controlled even under spirited driving. The power is sent through a
Turbo 400 automatic transmission with a 2800 stall converter,
shifted by the iconic His & Hers Hurst shifter, and delivered to
the pavement via a 12-bolt posi rear with 3.73 gears.
Handling and drivability have also been modernized, thanks to a
tubular Hotchkis front end, upgraded AGE power steering box, and
four-wheel power disc brakes, including a Wilwood setup at the
rear. This combination ensures the GTO is not only fast in a
straight line but also planted, responsive, and confident under
braking.
The body was stripped to bare metal and refinished in its original
factory Meridian Turquoise, highlighted by a working Ram Air hood
and a fiberglass nose for improved fitment. Electric hideaway
headlights add a touch of rarity and functionality. The exterior
presentation is both factory-accurate and subtly upgraded to make
this car a true head-turner.
Inside, a custom white interior is paired with a white vinyl top,
creating an elegant contrast to the exterior color. The cabin is
enhanced with power windows, a tilt steering wheel, and a wood
grain and billet steering wheel. While the factory radio is
disconnected, a hidden Pioneer AM/FM/CD player is installed in the
glove box with discreet kick panel speakers, delivering modern
sound without disrupting the stock appearance.
This GTO rides on 15-inch Rallye PMD wheels wrapped in performance
tires, completing the muscle car stance. Every detail has been
carefully thought out, from the powder-coated subframe to the
functional upgrades that ensure this car is just as enjoyable to
drive as it is to admire.
This 1968 Pontiac GTO Resto-Mod is a true eye catcher that blends
originality with modern performance in an unforgettable package.
With 600hp under the hood, cold A/C, upgraded suspension and
braking, and a stunning presentation, this GTO is as FAST as it is
fun-a car that's not only a showpiece but also a genuine blast to
drive.
