Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas/Fort Worth is excited to present
this highly customized, all-steel-bodied 1927 Essex Street Rod. The
Essex, while not often seen in the hot rod world, was originally
produced by the Essex Motor Company between 1918 and 1922, and
later by the Hudson Motor Car Company of Detroit, Michigan from
1922 to 1933. Of course, this Essex is a little different from what
rolled off the Detroit assembly line back in 1927!Power comes from
a strong Vortec 5.7L V8, topped with a striking Demon carburetor
setup, all tucked under a custom-painted air cleaner. A Vintage AC
Air Conditioning system and a "BCool" oversized aluminum radiator
keep everything running cool, making this Essex ready not only to
show but also to drive with confidence. The engine is paired with a
700R4 automatic transmission that sends power to a Jaguar rear end,
delivering smooth and effortless performance. Staggered 18-inch and
20-inch chromed Coys 5-star wheels wrapped in aggressive B.F.
Goodrich G-Force T/A rubber provide both looks and grip, while
stopping power is handled by a full 4-wheel disc braking
system.Little expense was spared in the original build of this
Essex. The car rides on a custom chassis with chromed front
suspension pieces, polished rear coil-overs, and a set of
center-mounted dual chromed exhaust tips out back. This combination
makes for an eye-catching stance that's sure to draw attention
wherever it goes. The interior has been fully redone in a bold
three-color design, including faux-ostrich upholstery that gives it
a wild custom touch. An overhead console houses a Bluetooth audio
system and an old-school clock, while power windows, AutoMeter
white-face gauges, a floor-mounted shifter, and a tilt steering
column bring modern convenience to the classic hot rod feel. Other
highlights include a back-up camera, cup holders, and a carefully
finished layout that completes this unique build. If you're looking
for a distinctive ride that stands out in any crowd, this 1927
Essex Street Rod is a one-of-a-kind machine that's ready to impress
both on the road and at the next show.Contact Gateway Classic Cars
