These trucks are a very popular style, and for good reason-they're
easy to customize and to make look awesome. This 1986 GMC Sierra
1500 Restomod is a perfect example. Nothing over the top, just a
well-put-together color scheme with red and black rims, a strong
drivetrain, and an excellent interior. The front grille, bumper,
and rear bumper have a stock appearance and look very solid. The
painted black inlay on the tailgate blends in perfectly with the
rest of the color theme. The taillights flow smoothly, and all the
molding and other chrome-plated pieces fit in smoothly as well. The
cowl induction hood is the final touch to complete the exterior's
sharp look.
The interior is mostly black, with some exterior red coloring
carried on from the exterior. The seats are aftermarket, wrapped in
vinyl, and look great with the red pinstriping-as do the door
panels. A custom steering wheel sits nicely in front of the
stock-configured gauge cluster. The actual gauges are aftermarket
Dakota Digital VHX analogue-style gauges, but still resemble the
look and feel of the stock setup. Two custom cupholders are
installed in the middle of the bench seat. A Pioneer
AM/FM/Bluetooth radio is mounted in the middle of the dashboard,
right below the heat, defrost, and air-conditioning controls. To
round out the goodies, there are power locks, power windows, and a
tilt steering wheel.
Under the hood is a GM 6.0-liter V8 with electronic fuel injection,
799 heads, and a mild performance cam that's paired with a GM
factory ECM swap (computer), so everything runs in sync. The
transmission is a 4L80E with a Circle D stall converter. That sends
power to a 10-bolt rear axle, connected to leaf springs and shocks
for the rear suspension, while the front suspension relies on coil
springs and shocks. Front power disc brakes and rear power drum
brakes handle the stopping duties, and the 22-inch US Mag wheels
ensure this truck always looks badass. Helping deliver a smooth
ride and confident traction are 265/35R22 Toyo 2021 tires.
