The 1962 Nova was the debut year for this iconic model. Making this
1962 Chevrolet Nova Chevy II convertible even rarer is the fact
that Nova only made convertibles for two years, '62 and '63. These
Novas have their own type of charm, but this Chevy II takes it to a
whole different level. The base silver paint pairs perfectly with
the black-painted hood, deck lid, and cloth convertible top. The
aftermarket front grille looks smooth alongside the bumper and
shiny headlight bezels. The rear promotes the same good-looking
color combination, while the rims flash a very familiar
new/old-school five-star look.
Pop your head into the interior and you'll see nice black vinyl
front bucket seats with a bench seat in the back. The Nova also has
matching door panels and carpet that fit very well. Red is the
secondary color, with most of the dashboard immersed in it. The
aftermarket steering wheel is connected to a tilt steering column,
and placed neatly in the dashboard are handsome-looking Dolphin
gauges. The AM radio and all the other knobs and buttons look
stylish and correctly positioned. The Nova has a racing ratchet
shifter on the floor, but no worries-you can still use it if you
just want to cruise.
For power, the Nova uses a 305 cubic-inch V8 with a Holley 4-barrel
carburetor. The engine bay is painted black and looks very clean,
while the engine itself is painted Chevy Orange. Controlling that
power is a TH350 3-speed automatic, which sends power back to a
10-bolt rear axle. The Nova's suspension is fairly straightforward,
with front Viking coilovers and leaf springs, shocks, and a sway
bar in the rear. Dual exhaust lets this beauty breathe better,
while MagnaFlow mufflers make it sound even sweeter. For stopping
power, front power disc brakes and rear power drum brakes handle
the task, while 15-inch American Racing wheels in the front and
17-inch wheels in the back provide the perfect stance.
