Here is a really different, yet cool-looking truck. These trucks
were originally built for Canada, but this one resides here in the
U.S. It's a fully restored 1965 Mercury M-1 Five-Window Econoline
custom pickup truck with a short bed. The exterior top-half color
is Kiwi Green Metallic, and the bottom-half is silver, with both
colors separated by a painted green pinstripe. The wheels match the
Kiwi Green color, with chrome-plated center pieces and outer beauty
rings. The rear-end view finishes out well, as does the inside of
the truck bed.
The interior looks just as good as the exterior. Using Kiwi Green
and tan colors with bright green pinstriping gives this cabin a fun
and free look. Leather seats with dark brown diamond-stitched
inlays add character. The center armrest is big enough for both
passenger elbows, and the matching-colored door cards are in great
shape. The steering column features tilt for the custom steering
wheel and also hosts the gear select. The gold dashboard gauges
look very retro and perfectly themed to the rest of the interior.
In the center console, you'll find the heat, defrost, and air
conditioning controls, cupholders, and a Pioneer head unit with
AM/FM/CD/Aux and Bluetooth.
Between the seats and under the armrest sits an insulated 302
cubic-inch V8 crate motor. An Edelbrock 4-barrel AVS2 Series
carburetor feeds this engine plenty of fuel. Power is delivered to
a 4-speed Ford Mustang automatic overdrive transmission, which then
connects to a 2000 Ford Explorer 4x4 rear differential.
Suspension duties are handled by an independent front suspension,
with control arms, coilovers, a sway bar, and rack-and-pinion
steering. The rear suspension uses factory trailing arms, coil
springs, and air shocks. Stopping power comes from front and rear
power disc brakes, and in front of those brakes are 15-inch
color-matched steel wheels with center caps and beauty rings. BFG
Radial T/A front 215/60R15 and 245/60R15 rear tires wrap those
wheels for a great stance and solid traction.
