This is an interesting and special car for Saab, as it commemorates
the Saab 900's record-setting run at the Talladega Speedway for
speed and endurance back in 1996. This front-wheel drive 1997 SAAB
900 SE Talladega features a beautiful silver paint job with
color-matched mirrors and front bumper. Although not exclusive to
the Talladegas, the 16-inch Aero alloy wheels really help set the
tone for the vehicle. The black convertible top looks sharp whether
it's up or down, but the Saab obviously is much more fun to drive
with the top down.
The interior color scheme is dark grey and tan. The leather power
front bucket seats are heated, and the door panels and carpet
remain in good condition. The steering wheel and dashboard appear
to be original, and the odometer reading of 85,350 miles is
believed to be accurate at the time it was recorded. For safety,
the Saab offers both driver and passenger airbags. For comfort,
there is air conditioning. For convenience, it comes equipped with
power steering, cruise control, a telescopic steering wheel, and
power windows, locks, and seats. For entertainment, the Saab
includes an AM/FM/Cassette radio with a CD changer mounted in the
trunk.
Under the hood, the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with electronic
fuel injection is snappy, especially when the turbo kicks in. A
5-speed manual transmission adds to the fun, letting you fully
control the power. Handling is excellent thanks to an independent
front suspension and a rear suspension featuring a beam axle with
coil springs. For stopping power, the car is equipped with
anti-lock front and rear power disc brakes, while 205/50/16 Falken
tires help with traction, to take on a variety of road conditions
with confidence.
